"Bolt-on" Single cab conversion

Test fitted mine today

Needs a bit of work. I'm planning to put bedliner on it, inside and out. And I need to purchase some sort of weatherstripping. ALOT of it I figure, can see lots of daylight! Not sure if I'll be able to get it weather tight. :dunno:

That bottom piece bolts in with the stock floor bolts

Lots of room for speakers too. Nice little shelf there and pleny of room underneath:

I'm thinking that I'm going to make the speakers moveable somehow, so that I can relocate them to the rear bed sides when I run the regular topper.

Scored three brand new half cabs (no windows and unpainted) if anyone is looking for one. Have yet to put it on yet though.

I am the guy

OK My Appologies to the origonal poster of this link or anybody who thinks he is gonna be the guy.

I am Truckeez, And I am the guy.

A Word About the Composites F-glass car parts industry

hello AGAIN ColoradoK5---The place has changed.
Im just gonna introduce myself again here since i dont know what original username I had.
I started doing this stuff in 84 in a smaller volume boat mgfer.
Since then I have done industrial-aerospace/but origonally wanted to know to do car parts. --One place I worked for -There are probably more than a few 80 --98 k5's that got a Custom F/X --Eliminator trucks---cowl hood here on k5 or bumper covers, roll pans, grills. anyway that 88-98 hood was the single biggest selling thing I helped design for other guy.
.>>>>>>>>I dont want anyone to think im setting myself up as "ultimate authority" about F-glass stuff.--All this sfuff is MY OPINION.........
I hate it when guys on other websites start the Im the AUTHORITY Crap....

Ok The Aftermarket fibreglass car parts buiz is one the more cutthroat ones of any auto parts. its waiting for new people --With some Money to spend and VERY little knowlege to come in --AND GET SCREWED.
People with Delusions of Granduer of-
. Ive got a idea to copy something and get me a fiberglass man to make parts for me.
.Im gonna sit with my feet up on the desk and "be the guy", and this guy is gonna do the dirty work for me.... CHEAP
. Im gonna get this fiberglass man to do design work for me..Cheap
..Im gonna be able to have the whole thing running for $1000.00
...Im gonna get me a patent to protect myself.
....Anybody tries im gonna get my lawer to sue them.

What these new people sometimes learn about a yr or so later is they just spent a lot more than origonally planned and They just GOT SCREWED.
The "Fiberglass Man I found me" is more than likely an alcohalic Bum who runs a chopper gun all weel and drinks his check away on friday/sat.

If the new venturer CAN find someone who Can actually design also---Thes people already know theres------- NO Patenting This type stuff. No one has any rights to any aftermarket stuff----------Because
. You would have had to find a lawyer to patent the part in the first place--and they would see a pigeon for the future.
. Anyone who gets their hands on some part just has to make some changes to it--And they could make as many as they wanted to anyway.
. The person you Think you're gonna sue has to have money to get at or the lawyer wont do any thing except make MORE money off you making you think your thoughts while they MilK YOU.
. You gotta have money for your Lawyer .

None of this ever happens What Does happen is The Choppergun guy has bben planning since the second time you talked to him--"Im The Guy"
---and this bozo is gonna pay Me to build My next income.

I learned all this stuff the easy way watching some other guys-Some professional who had a solid buisness-some who were not newbes--Who just decided they were gonna sub out the factory part--and "STill Be The Guy". There was a place called Auto Care center just east of Dallas that Custom F/X decided to sub out to-gave them his molds and -He was pretty much done in,

A yr or two later the 98 flood of cheap Steel chinese parts OF ALL KINDS-- Steel Custon Cowl hoods for trucks The chinese had knocked off the FX cowl hood................ A few yrs before the Cowl hoods I was working for aerospace places and custom f/x and did my first big car parts project. at home in the garage.

In the early 2000's i did the blazer Sport top . I didn't know how to logg onto a computer but soon as I had new stuff 2 weeks later i had a website and a little 1/16 page link on
Colorado K5. While the ad was up June and july 03 I was working on the new custom cab back.
anyway i sold some and started a new full time job and different spare time stuff--and the tooling has been in Storage....

Let me seel if i can get the pics here
More about the pitfalls You have to know whats what about producing this stuff as much as anyone colld know about selling it. The "Fiberglass Man " you found-
The Chopper Gun guy Doesn't want You to know any more than possible to keep your money coming in. He Mainly wants you to think that Chopper guns are the way to go. He doesnt want you to know anything about materials. If You can find a Choppergun guy who is an expert Body Man --thats a TOUGH thing to pull off.

There are a few Small i or two man camper top places still, But usually the chopper gun guy is a seperate job and these guys DONT Do bodywork--Worth a damn.
For the delusion of Granduer to actually workout someone would have to find A honest -Reputable place--That Costs SERIOUS Money to deal with--NO Getting yor startup going for $1000.00--$1500.00
This is SILLYNESS.

One thing about pattern tooling--These guys are not the production people---They build the stuff that the production people use.
But when a tooler is working in a Tool making buisness --like some Aerospace shops in the west side of DFW, Then we are more just production people.
The shops I have worked at wouldn't do a part like this from scratch--haveing ! guy doing it for 3 months---For less than $30.000.00

Greetings Lunatic--No Im Not an alcohaulic Bumb who Runs a Chopper gun---And like I said This stuff is only My opinion.

Anyway As far as me "being the guy" Im the last to do a new version of the 69-72 Half Cab--And actually have parts--instead of making a one off steel mockup and pretend I have parts-- There was another guy who did just this here in Texas-- and he's not in Houston.
