Bought me a K30 3+3, service body! {new pics}

Nice truck but dont bump into it after its been setting in the sun. My dad has a black f150 and it will scald you during the summer months.

How far did you go with the recolor, did you touch anything under the hood or in the cab, etc?
I had the door jams done, but not the fenders or under the hood. With going from such a color difference, and big body gaps with an older vehicle, I basically felt compelled to do at least the jams. Otherwise, you'd see tan through the door cracks looking at the truck from any kind of angle from the outside, just wouldn't look good. From the inside the black jams look nice, makes me want to get the credit card and LMC catalog out and go black interior crazy!:laugh:

What a waste of truck, a sweet k30 with a ute box on it, and you are going to use it "on road":haha: . That paint job looks sweet on there, best looking work truck Ive seen in a while. Definitely need to see some pics of that baby when the welds get installed.

Oh don't worry, no wasting here as I am going to use it for exactly what GM designed it for, hauling. That 1 ton will be loaded around 8,500lbs all the time with my tools/welder/compressor/generator/torch bottles/etc. That GM truck designed to haul 9,200lbs GVWR will get a work out!;) I've got that '60 for the extra weight capacity...oh wait, isn't that why GM used a 60? For weight reasons??...:wink1:

In all seriousness, I'm already loving this truck and haven't worked with it yet. It will definantly not be something to be emberrased to be in while in town, it will be set up very well and be a mobile shop minus the structure, and be able to take me almost anywhere on the ranches to get to any equipment in need of work.

Now I just have to get all my equipment moved over from my other/old truck. My F600 ( or at least the back half in the pic)

Yeah, having a black interior sounds better everyday (mine's blue). The stuff really isn't that expensive, I can do my regular cab from top to bottom for way under a grand. I'd like to Line-x the floor, redo the interior in black, regauge it with Autometers, and paint it all whatever color I decide on going with, probably Victory Red. Then it'll be ready for a recolor.

IIRC, the nice black factory style door panels are only a couple hundred bucks from LMC. If mine was a regular cab like yours I'd probably dive into some new interior parts, but not with this crew cab, with twice the panels. I've already dropped $2k between the paint, grille, and wheels. Not only that I have to remember it's a work truck and I still have a bunch of other function items to purchase, like an orange emergency cab light, those things aren't cheap.:doah: I'm still hunting for a Welder/generator, like a Miller Bobcat 225 or so. My other service truck has an Onan strait generator and I have a seperate 220v stick welder that I plug into it. That combo kind of sucks and is bulky and think a Bobcat will be perfect with the much less room I now have available with this truck.

not a 100 percent sure on this but if you do a cummins swap wont it need to be lifted 4 inchs? Sweet crewcab made me decide Not to sell mine:D

As far as pan clearance from the front differential, yes I think a lift is neccessery. How much of a lift, I don't know. I would cross that bridge when it comes.

Just got done putting 75/90 Amsoil diff fluid in and a new gasket, as the PO only used sylicone on it and was leaking. He also added this nifty aluminum cover. This thing worth having?

My wheels should be delivered today, I will have some pictures tommorrow of it in the sun and finished with the wheels.

Today is new shock day, have left over new shocks that came off my K5 years ago.

it will disipate heat better but will crumple easier if you back in to a stump or something.

your truck looks sweet.
Not quite. These covers are stronger than you think. One of the magazines did a cover test with several different brands and this was one of them. It passed everything but one thing but can't remember what it was. A tree stump isn't anything strong enough to crumple this cover. I think it was like a giant boulder or the bucket of a backhoe that made a small hole in this cover.

I have a few of these covers waiting to be installed on a few rears. I wouldn't use this one for rock crawling but it will do just fine for anything else.

Keep it. Worth every penny, if you bought one that is. And since its already on there, leave it alone.
