BOYCOTT 4 Wheel Parts Performance Centers

All I know about them is the Genuine Geasr Quic Loc , made by Tractech and identical to the Detroit EZ Locker , strips out prematurely . The owners manual says box it up and take it back where you bought it so they can ship it to them . 4WP says NO , you bring truck down and we charge you for gear oil and remove and inspect it ourselves .

I covered this near the end of 2004 . I went Lockright , ate the money of the GGQL , and have no trouble now .

The worst ride I ever had was with some 4" pro-crap springs and twin tube shocks. Never knew that 4WP owned Pro-comp. Add another company to the ignore list.

the only thing i dont like about 4wp is the fact they charge shipping on items that are being shipped to their store for in store pickup. Oh and the fact that i can be standing there for 20-30 minutes before the 5 guys behind the counter say hey, can i help you. I guess i dont look rich enough to afford a lift and tires installed.

I dealt with them in the past(got my free wheels fine a few years ago), but have really not had a problem in any of my purchases. However, I decided a while back to support the local guy so that he can stay in business. Yes, I haggle prices with him if it's twice as much as 4wp, but if it's close I let it go. AV Sport Truck and Off Road has been really helpful with tech and supplying parts when promised. I would suggest trying to keep the local guy in business where you live, too. Otherwise, you won't have any choice but to go to 4wp.

No, it's just because you didn't drive up in a J**P or blinged out Super Duty on 20s:wink1:

I like your idea, but my local guy is a lying, cheating bastard who needs his nuts cut. But other than that, he's a nice fellow

If you go wheeling at least 50 times , and log over 20,000 street miles , they end up riding real nice without sagging under my winch :D

Still don't like 4WP , but I can't fault the people who made the springpack I got in my kit .

I know what you mean. I'm not going to support a guy just because he is local.

I didn't like the way 4WP opened that store right down the street from Kevin's store, but it was a good place when it opened. (I haven't been there in several years so I can't comment about today) The one on this side of town has been up & down. Currently I'd say its down and getting worse.

I have no plans of boycotting them, but I am very careful when I shop there.

ACTUAL 4WP SCAMS PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT ALL OVER THE INTERNET

w1qtkm.jpg

1) My favorite 4WP scam is the "buy 3, get 1 free" deal on the Procomp tires or shocks. Whenever they offer this deal they also jack up the price by about $20-$30/tire and/or raise shipping,or i must buy their tire warranty to get free shipping. They also add F.E.T tax and Pallet Fees, even though the tires did not come on a pallet. (Shipping Complaints should be made to the Federal Trade Commission and the Internet Fraud Complaint Center)

2) I also dealt the the "shipping charges" when getting parts. As mentioned they never have any real 4x4 parts in stock and wanted to charge me shipping even if I picked the parts up at the store.....WTF

3) My favorite is the Warn M8000 I almost ordered from them online. They were advertising free shipping. Weeee! Well, when I got to the page to confirm my order I noticed that there was a $50 handling charge.
(Shipping Complaints should be made to the Federal Trade Commission and the Internet Fraud Complaint Center)[/I]

4) Not only did 4 Wheel Parts screw up my order, there were over 10 parts missing from my kit. Even though they messed up, they forced me to pay for Re-Shipping the crap back to them. When i got the second box, i noticed the original factory seals had also be opened.
(Shipping Complaints should be made to the Federal Trade Commission and the Internet Fraud Complaint Center)[/I]

5) Tire Warranty, (No Questions Asked) is Deceptive. No questions asked means just that, (If anything happens to my tire, no questions will be asked and replaced.) Not the case, its “False & Misleading” to consumers for the fact that the warranty does ask questions and allows 4WP to reject tire warranty claims at anytime.

Exclusions that are no longer on their website
Tires are to be used under normal conditions. Tires which have been (abused) will not be covered by the contract). Excludes coverage for commercial use, competition, or rock crawling will not be covered. 4WP failed to define the word (Abused) or (Normal Conditions).

If warranty claim is made, customer must pay for mounting, balance, F.E.T taxes, and purchase a new tire warranty for the tire, being $100.00 or more
(Shipping Complaints should be made to the Federal Trade Commission and the Internet Fraud Complaint Center)[/I]

6) SELLING USED EQUIPMENT AS NEW. I purchased a Bulley Dog triple dog combo diesel tuner and outlook monitor. This order was placed at the Special Events annual truck show in Bloomsburg Pa which i attend every year.

About a week later i received a package and upon opening it i realized it was previously opened and had been resealed to look like it was not tampered with. The lable on the box was also for a ford not my dodge. I also noticed that there was carbon on a part that gets installed in the exhaust manifold (meaning it was used). Also some small parts that would normally be in a factory sealed box were all in a Zip Lock bag.

In short i received a used unit w/ missing parts that was the wrong one in the first place !!!

7)IMPROPER INSTALLATION, I had a 3' Rancho Lift Kit Installed on my Chevy Tahoe. I have been quite happy with a number of Rancho lift kits installed on differnt vehicles over the years so was surprised when I was hearing strange noises.

This particular 4 Wheel parts location has moved but I'm making this posting as a warning to others to be careful about their incompentence.

After numerous complaints via the phone and in person I was deemed a nusiance customer and they ignored me. They did try to grease fittings and grind areas that they thought were rubbing. Nothing was working. They finally told me I was a nusance and because my truck had fairly high mileage on it, I should get use to the noise.

I was driving towards the freeway one day about a mile from the on-ramp when I came upon a 4 way stop. When I put my foot on the brake the pedal went all the way to the floor and i of course went through the intersection. luckily no one else was at the intersection.

The outcome of all of this was that the brake line was improperly routed through the lift kit. It was the cause of the noise and finally broke. had it happened on the freeway, I could have been killed with potentially several others since my Chevy tahoe is not a light vehicle and I don't tend to drive it slow.

I tried to get 4 Wheel Parts to address the issue and give me a refund. I had the brake cable replaced elsewhere. They refused to do anything about the issue and to this day I'm still disputing the credit charge with the credit company 4 Wheel Parts offers to their customers directly.

This is how 4WP responds if they completely mess up your truck

As 4 Wheel Parts did sell after market parts/labor to the consumer. 4 Wheel Parts has no credible evidence that the parts/labor provided were improper and/or not of the highest quality. We have tried to work with Mr. Cry Baby on several occasions with the alleged problems he is encountering, but to no avail.

This is how you should respond back in kind

As 4 Wheel Parts did provide labor and after market parts that were at (above) what was the original agreed upon price. The parts were improperly installed on the vehicle as to make contact with other suspension components and vital equipment used in stopping the vehicle. This improper installation has lead to inadvertent component contact and may lead to complete unit failure resulting in injury and/or death of vehicle occupants.

Furthermore, it is 4 Wheel Parts well established common business practice to sell used/returned equipment as new, engage in Unlawful and Deceptive Business Practices by adding hidden and/or additional fees with respect to Free Shipping and other Advertisements

I do not do much business with 4wp. The few times I have though I always have had a good experience. the most recent purchase was a 4 inch procomp lift kit which except for the amount of time it spent back ordered (2 weeks) was a very good kit. The pricing for most of their products cannot be matched by independents, the same way that they cannot compete with wal-mart. Pricing below cost though is not illegal. In fact its a very common tactic used by mega stores to route out the small guy and take over a local economy. If you dont like that then dont buy from them. The problem isnt that these companies undercut local markets, the problem is we as consumers buy from them. If people have felt ripped off by 4wp then do as others have and go get it back. Sitting around complaining just makes them look foolish.

No offense, but if you think your pro-comps ride good......you gotta go for a ride with me at Pismo. :wink1:

I don't know who you are or what you are up to but a good portion of your posts are all about bashing this one company.

I don't deal with them but know people who do and they don't seem to have this many issues. Every company out there has problems, when you have a customer base the size of 4 wheel parts you are bound to have made mistakes.
Not to defend them but this whole thing causes me to wonder.

New member in August 08' lots of time spent on a band wagon issue about this.

What is your hidden aggenda here?

TO GIVE WHEELS AWAY FOR FREE and just charge for shipping is called

UNFAIR COMPETITION

You can't sell something below your cost as it is UNFAIR COMPETITION to other stores, as they can't compete and are crushed, Violating Federal and State Laws.

For all the people who got FREE WHEELS and just paid for shipping, you guys unknowingly crushed and/or financially damaged other local stores.

I went on 4wp website a couple of days ago and it said FREE wheels just pay for shipping, now its different...........i wish i would have saved that

This is America, you can sell something at a loss all day long if you want to. I believe what your trying to refer to is predatory pricing laws, and it doesn't look to me like that ran an internet special for a couple of days to try to monopolize the national offroad wheel market. :surepal: As far as bashing the guys on here for getting a good deal, that's just stupid.

I've dealt with 4wheelparts a couple of times here local, and they were o.k. experiences. Seems like your bashing is getting a little out of hand.

Well, I don't doubt there has been some shady dealings at times with 4WP, according to the reports, but it seems that the majority of the complaints I've read have come from their mis-prints, mis-pricing, and all around stupid mistakes. Personally I would say it comes down to the old phrase, if it's too good to be true then it probably is. So don't go fishing on a deal that sounds bogus, and expect a product or outcome that isn't bogus.

My $.02

For the record i have made many other off topic posts, but they were taken down because i haven't paid the membership fee yet, mom wont give me her credit card......lol j/k

Second,I stand corrected, its more of Predatory Pricing thing, than an unfair competition.

3rd, i forgot what 3rd was.

Internet customer complaints to Federal Agencies have done some of the following.

4WP is prohibited from using the phraseology, "NO QUESTIONS ASKED TIRE WARRANTY," in their advertisements.

4WP is prohibited from selling specific extended warranties.

4WP is prohibited from displaying the UPS or BBB Logos on their website.

Discount Tires no longer carries the Pro Comp Tire Line upon last check.

The list just goes on and on.

I can tell you this, that 4WP is terribly afraid of

Federal Trade Commission
Internet Fraud Complaint Center

I can tell you that the Overcharges, Non-Refunds, Late Refunds, paying for Re-Shipping when 4WP messed up the order will substantially decrease when telling the above agencies about your non pleasant experiences.

You are totally correct IMHO, but it does crack me up to what extent their stupidity can go. I mean this latest example of "free wheels" had me rolling! I hope that someone did score a killer deal off their stupidity! :haha:

There will be complaints with pretty much every business in existence for one reason or another. But from what I have read here in my VERY limited time, it seems to be a fairly common thing with this company [4WP]. This may indeed be a totally unfair assessment of 4WP, but I will say this, I don't plan on doing business with them just to avoid the hassles. My time is more valuable than saving $5 here and there or haggling over one of their "too good to be true" deals. I will buy what I need from a business with a good reputation versus one with a shady reputation. I think that is pretty much how we all operate. There is a theory about one happy customer telling 5 friends about their great experience whereas an unhappy customer telling 10+ people.

I don't fault people for shopping there or scoring good deals when they can. It does however leave those of us who haven't shopped there kind of suspicious, especially when dealing over the internet. For what I plan on buying in the near future, I plan on getting it from companies such as DIY and ORD, specifically ORD. I have heard GREAT things about their customer service and to me that's worth a few extra bucks. In the end, it all boils down to what we as customers are willing to put up with to save a few bucks. To each their own.

going to find out if thats the case next weekend ,got a set of bogger that never hit the pavement and got dry rott all of them. i have the warranty and i hope they Honor it
