Buddies buildin a 383

Ugh my head hurts. I cant comprehend anything as i have a nice heqd cold. Stopped by after work. Thing runs fine, had it running around 10btdc with no knocking pinging or any of the sort on regular 87.

You guys are nutz lol:whistle:

Yeah Adam, I highly doubt it's going to ping sitting there with no load. Its going to ping when its warm under load at low RPM if it's going to do it. And you still haven't told use the confirmed pistons, if they really are 18cc dish it's probably fine. And have you ever looked up the head casting numbers or cc'd the combustion chambers?

Maiden specs:

bore 4.281
stroke 4.00
block decked to 9.780
gasket compressed .039/4.37 bore
pistons SRP 23cc dome
Heads stock 119cc after .010 cut and bowl work
stock 6.135 rods
piston is .005 in the hole
5500 redline
1.72 rockers

So how do you figure the @ .015 lift figures to use in the calculator?

Those cam specs are at .015" lift. So that is fine with me, I prefer it, if cam timing was only given in .050" lift, there is a little mini calculator in my compression calculator page called "Intake Valve Estimator" that will convert the valve closing to advertised if you give it three pieces of info. It basically interpolates the valve closing based on teh difference between the advertised duration and the duration at .050", I think that is more accurate than simply adding 15 degrees.

So, with your BB #s in my calculator I get 9.82 static/8.17 dynamic. I would stick with premium even though you are only 9.8:1, because you cam timing is relatively small and your dynamic is over 8:1, but you should be fine.

BTW, that race gas in your Vette at the track would go real good with a 150 shot! Wake that puppy up real good!

Im just messin with yah heath. Hes too damn stubborn so i gave up on trying to talk him into checking everything. Not my motor, not my problem lol.

9.8 is a little higher than I thought, but we know compression makes power! It seems to do real good on premium too!
Your right about the 150... it would funnnernhell, but then I'd be all over the track with my 225's:haha:

This needs an update. Its now got some Dart Pro ones with 180 intake runners, 1.60exh 2.06 int heads, an RPM air gap, and a FAST EZ EFI sitting on it.

He got the new pump installed the other day. Just needs to get the programmable 6AL box and do the wiring and running of the gas lines.

Now it will make some power with a proper tune

He'll like the Dart Pro1 heads and that FAST EZ EFI ;)

Btw Adam, when are we going to see my Patriot heads raise from the dead?

Well i need to get my priorities straight. But id like it to go: Alcans up front, the diy shackle flip i already have in rear, fox 2.0s and bumpstops, then heads lol. So as soon as i can save the $3k in shocks, air bumps, and alcans, then i should be ready for the heads lol.

Ugh i dont even wanna think about that stupid 14sf lol. When you gimme the right deal ill snag it from ya lol. :deal:

Are you trying to knock my price down? I offered you about half the list price + shipping :deal:
