buggy build thread.. F-ING TRANSMISSIONS

Ordered up some 14 inch ori struts for the new buggy, initial impressions are good.


One is fully compressed the other is not fully extended, the coil over is a 16 inch off the back. Ill more than likely be getting rid of the sway-a-ways as well for a set of ORI'S out back as well.


One thing I am stoked about is not needing to package and purchase sway bars and air bumps now. With the rear axle being welded it would keep the buggy torqued when I parked and the lean annoyed me.
 
very nice, I just ordered a set of 16" ORIs to replace my FOA C/Os for the same reason.

ORIs seem like the shiznit in a lot of ways, so I'll be curious to see how they stand up to the Shawn-style abuse, jumping videos and general tom-foolery that you'll be dishing out.

well in 5 years when he finally gets the thing put back together then takes it out once then comes home and dis assembles it, i'm sure we'll get a review. :D
 
So with all the th350 drama.. Im ready to lay down some cash before I install another trans in the next chassis.


Jason led me to a 27 spline th400 output.. weeeee


So now I just need a crash coarse on the long/short snout and make sure i get the right thickness adaptor.

I think it be better to upgrade the t-case to 32 spline rather than downgrade the trans to 27 spline. I am looking forward to seeing your next project. Always fun stuff.

While I do agree, the idea of tearing open a nice working t-case and messing with it to change my atlas to a 32 spline from its current 27 spline was a complete turn off to me.

Besides I have not broke any output shafts so far.. yet:doah:

I think he'll be OK. The 27 spline GM shaft is only .040" smaller than the 23 spline Dodge shaft (the Dodge shaft uses larger splines which is why it has fewer teeth), which was used in Dodge's autos behind the Cummins in the 90's. Nobody ever really broke them until they started bombing the engines... and then they usually blew up something else in the trans first :doah:

Good to know, but im sure as hell going to put it to the test and find out.

One thing pisses me off to death though.

I got my first trans built when I was 17, I beat it, put 4-5 big blocks, couple small blocks in front of it. Over heated it, blew up a few of those motors, blew up the chain on the 203, trashed the cab, ran it low way to many times, dropped it on the ground during install.

Later sold it to a buddy for cheap.

Im now 26.. and he is still running that same damn th-400.

Should have kept that one, I seriously have long since lost count in how many transmissions I have put in 4x4s over the last 10 years. :doah:

I have not got a core yet,

I know there is a long and short tail version right? My limited understanding is the 27 spline was only in the long tail option?
