Hydro assist would make streering easier and more controlled.
Thanks for the info I may move this conversation to the discussion threadA couple of things to consider with respect to the BAMF option.....
Way back I purchased a gently used High Angle Driveline driveshaft assembly that had a 42 degree CV, it was "cheap" compared to new (I needed a CV rear shaft). This thing was HUGE compared to a run of the mill GM front driveshaft CV, like twice as big... almost a nerf football big. I used it on the rear so the size wasn't a problem but be sure you have room if you're using on the front.
Also, the HAD 42 degree unit was not sealed so it constantly threw grease. The underside of my Blazer will never rust. I talked to HAD about it after I bought it and he cautioned me not to drive it long distance (like 30-45 min at a time and let it site & cool) then I needed to grease it frequently, this may not matter to you on the front - unless you ever run drive flanges or drive trail to trail with the hubs locked. The CV I had looked just like the pic on Tom Woods site, it's an agriculture application part so it's likely the same unit sold by both companies.
It was nice meeting you!Made it back from Blazer Bash in one piece. Had a really good time seeing the other rigs and enjoying the scenery of Moab. The truck did pretty good for what it is. I feel like it is lifted a little bit to high for that kind of wheeling but had a good time. Also has what looks like a bad death wobble when on rough terrain (not sure what the prob is at the moment). Have most of my pictures on the GoPro so I’ll upload some photos when I get a few minutes. From one guy with a semi-high CG truck to another, your truck did great. You took every hard line on Fins and killed it. I know I saw 30-31 degrees up and down on some of the climbs and drops as well as 22 degrees to the side and it had me spooked in the Jeep. I can only imagine what it felt like in your rig. Good to meet you and your family.Hurrah pass to chicken corners
Potash to shaffer switch back
Fins and things
My favorite was fins and things. I did a few obstacles I would not have done on my own but after watching others go glad that I did.
Id like to go back just don’t know when I will be able to return. It’s a long, long, long way away.
I forget how big this truck actually is.
Both less lift and bigger tiresYeah I’ve thought about taking some lift out. Or put a bigger tire on it. We need to make another hidden falls trip.
Both less lift and bigger tires
On paper it should be 12” of lift but seems bigger. I’d really like to be at 9”. 42s would be nice but really feel like the 40s work well.I’m a big fan of low lift and big tire. I like low COG.
I’m down for a hidden falls trip but I’ll be in the rzr unless I come into some money to finish the blazer here soon.
