Build / suspension questions ?

Another option for beefed up knuckles is Solid Axle Industries. You can sometimes find them for a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the Reid knuckles. They're nodular iron, accept all the standard kingpin parts, are "made with extra material and webbing in critical areas", and the tops are keyed so it takes the stress from turning off the studs (requires their steering arms or ones from Artec) or you can order them without the key and run any of the common aftermarket steering arms. I ran across them when looking at options for my Ford 60 and they seem to have tons of positive feedback on Pirate and other forums.

Thread hijack in a slightly different flavor!

Was just doing some winter maintenance tonight and thought I'd join in! Extremely happy with ARB's, that's all I'd go with now-a-days.

You won't be disappointed by the springs :thumb:

I think they’re bad A$$ can’t wait to try it out !

and if you can sweet copper pipe and or braze weld then you can fix a screw up if it happens . . . . :yikes::doah::1zhelp:

pinched my air line of the ring that holds the X-seals .

got some silver solder and special flux . heated it up pulled the bad chunk out and cleaned it good and slid in new section . all was good on bench test for leaks . :dunno: no real test yet . . . long story .

The really old ARB stuff had seals that weren't super durable, but we're talking 20 years ago.

The next gen was really good, and built their reputation I think. The only thing I didn't like on those air lockers are that they had you notch the bearing caps for air line clearance in some applications.

The newest stuff usually can avoid notching the bearing cap. Supposedly the newest gen is stronger too, but I don't think they've ever had much issue there regardless. Good stuff!

thanks buddy for the info . :waytogo:
Ok so back to suspension ... as stated before I’m gonna go high steer crossover to do so I need .
1. Flat top knuckles ?
2. Steering box 2wd ?

What else ?

You have a Dana 60 correct?

You need the arms, studs to go with the arms. Stuff to build a drag link and tie rod. 2wd steering box correct pitman arm. I think that's all.

My I recommend just doing crossover steering. Leaving the tie rod in it's stock location. Things get less tight and it's easier to add hydro assist. I build tie rods out of 1.5" .250 wall Dom. Sleaved with 1.75" ..120 wall DOM they last. Even after continuous rock humping
