I'll try to resize them, I'm pretty computer illiterate. about the zero rates, those are allready in the mail. They will give me 1 inch more lift, and move my axle which I'm aware of, but I'm feeling like my tires are gonna hit in the rear when flexing the little amount that I can. So at most, I was thinking a zero rate and a 1 inch body lift. What do you think about cutouts avery?

There is a member on here that has some info. on his site about his experiences with fender flares such as the Bushwackers. They sound like a good idea at first but after properly installing them he got next to no clearance. It does open up your wheelwells a bit but they don't give you much more room as far as flex goes. Plus I've seen many guys get them ripped off as stated above and I've seen many tires get a nice cut down the center of them from rubbing the flares.

In my opinion somebody who can do a frame off restoration is more than capable of :hack: their fenders to look nice and give more clearance.

What was the final mounting position of the shackle flips? Did you just swap sides or redrill them (if so, how much)?

I hear on the flares, sometimes the shortest route (like trimming) just opens up a can of worms. :doah:

I ended up moving the shackle's 2 1/4" forward and seemed to work out pretty well it seems. There is a picture a few posts up.

So you mean just trimming your fenders without the flares you've heard as a bad idea? Or having the cutout flares is bad?

I was just talking about problems like the bondo you mentioned. Imo, the flares look good but ultimately if you're wheeling it I'd bet they'll get torn off. Like Avery said, just not enough additional clearance for the effort.

Oh yeah... are your flip brackets on the "correct" side or are they reversed? 52" or 56" rear springs?

52" springs. If I put them the other way, it would move my mount back making my angle worse. Correct.

Its actually pretty simple to cut out to make it look great, you just have to follow the curve of the wheel well.. check out what i did to mine and my brothers..

Possible Fender trimming location.

Best part is it gets rid of my bondo problem and a little rust. Keep in mind, the zero rates are not in yet so the axle will be pushed back another inch.

So, what did you do about the double wall parts of the fender? Did you just fold them together and weld or what?

Looks pretty good to me, what do you think?

Shackleangle.jpg

shackle angle is a little steep, but flex it out and see how it does. its livable but not the best. is that with all the weight in the truck?

truck is lookin really good

yeah i just pinched them together.. added in some lil metal.. tacked it all up and welded it.

Well that is without the top on. Just put the top and on it actually went down a little more. Still minus tranny, transfer case, front clip and motor. It is super super soft actually which suprised me, I know I don't have shocks on yet, but still I wasn't expecting that. The front is still pretty steep though

Too bad it will never be full, because that big block is going to suck the gas as fast as I pump it in :D :D . But that is very true, thats a couple more hundred pounds.

Well, I have the spots where my fenders are going to get cut out all ready to go on one side. Then on tuesday I'm driving to pick up my 465/205 which is several hours south of where I am. Then, I'm gonna get that put in and go get my shafts made. Plus I'm mocking up my hydro assist right now trying to get that all ready. Lastly, I finally began the stages of picking out what I wanna do with the engine and possible start the build on that in a few months.

I'm waiting to cut out my fenders because right now I have the stock body mounts on because I wanted to get my cab on and see if any body lift was necessary (which it isnt). I wanted to wait for new body mounts so I can see exactly where my cab will sit and not kind of where it will sit. So I don't have any real exciting updates, but should have some in awhile.
