Build thread for 76K5 update 12/7/09 page 14! Front end buildup.

no... I still havnt done it. I dont have a gargae or even a covered are in my driveway and i absolutly HATE working in the rain(i know i beter get used to it living in portland) so i'll do it as soon as the weather permits. Another reson im not all that motivated is the motor thats in my truck right now isnt good for much but driving around the block. so i have to rebuild the one i have in the shed before i can even drive it to the mall....

Have you ever been to sand lake? we should (i deffintly am going there a few times this somer for sure!) go there some time. I bet your truck qwould do good in the sand.

updates?? I finally got that trany in my truck, and am getting sloe to done on my 500 rebuild. So its going to be wheelin time before too long!

Sweet!!! I havnt even tryed out the tranny yet as i currently have the motor pulled. I SHOULD be done with it though by the end of may.

Once again, if you need a hand just let me know.

Went with a different direction with the build

It's been a few years for an update but I did change a few things...

-Put in my 465/203/205 Doubler..
-Started building my doubler crossmember
-Put 63" springs in the rear and 52's in the front. 7" DIY4X shackles
-Cut off the back half of the Blazer and grafted on a new bed for the added wheel base.
-Put 5:13 gears in the front and rear with a new ARB in the 60.
-Built a custom traction bar for the 14B.
-Rebuilt my floorboard because of the doubler coming up through the floor.

To Do:
-Full Hyrdaulic steering
-Mount Fuel cell
-Relocate exhaust....again
-Finish building new dash
-Rhino line inside and cage
-Put in new wiring harness that has been on my shelf for 6 months.

Anyways, I will try to get some pictures later on, just thought I would bring this back up to the top.

When you get a chance I'd love to see your doubler crossmember. I'm putting mine in this weekend and need to figure something out for a crossmember soon. :doah:

Mind you, this is no where near complete, still have some boxing in to do and gussets to put in, so no flaming yet....

1)First picture is of the mount I used with a ORD bushing and sleeve. This sits up in the frame rail and is bolted in.

2)Same thing

3)This is a shot of the back crossmember that goes inbetween the 203/205.

4)Same piece but with a side view

5)This is the beginning of going under the front output, in the picture you can see my bushing and where the tube goes.

I am done with this piece now just don't have pictures of it, I will keep you updated. Hope these help

Thanks for the pics! I like the brackets that go up in the frame, neat idea. :thumb:

Yeah, no problem. I also make an 1 1/2" half radias on the back of the tabs that allow wires, fuel/brake lines to run through

Got my tube bender going and got some new parts, so I have some updates.

Finally got my axles completely under the rig with the new 52's up front and the new 63's in the rear.

Next, I started working on my under hood tube and beginning to bring my fenders in.

Then I got my new 16" travel King remote reservoir shocks all mounted up. I completely cycled my suspension and found the proper place to mount them. The entire underhood tubing is tied into my existing cage and to the frame in several spots. I made it completely unboltable to make removal of my engine much easier.

Next I started working on my front bumper and bolting my fenders up. I also had to graft in a 2" section of frame to lengthen my fenders so everything would match up the way I wanted.

Finally, this is where I'm at now. Also made my grill out of a sheet of 1/4" plate I had at work with 1/2" holes in it, I think it came out looking well, it's functional too. :D

Dude! Great work! Your truck was bad ass before and now its even more bad ass!

Thanks man, yeah I have been working on it here and there, it is up at my parents house so I only work on it a few times a week. I am married and have a 3 month old son now so my priorities have swayed a bit. How are your rigs doing?

I am hoping to do some wiring soon and finish up my dash, hopefully I will be able to get some more updates soon.

Funny, im married to now! Crazy how they change your mind for you huh? Any way, All my rigs need attention in one way or another, but all of them do run and drive!
