Build thread-Registered and being driven occasionally.

Watching: I like the way you did the fan. I need to do mine as soon as I finish the lift,Today I hope.

Well instead of doing an engine rebuild I picked up a good running TBI 350. Got it all swapped in a couple of weeks ago. Now I am just waiting to get a TBI comp and harness (should be here next week sometime). Got to get a few more sensors as well and a custom chip burned.

It was my first engine swap but it all went well, it definately helps to get all of the bolts out though :doah: . Still gathering a few parts but I hope to have it running again really soon.

One question though, the engine is a TBI 350 that was mated to a TH350. I have a 700r4, will the flywheel work?

Well got the engine in a while back and most of it wired up. Wish I would have gotten a more complete engine as I have been sourcing all the small chit seperately which has been more expensive and time consuming :doah:

Took out my heater to put the battery on the firewall and I will be using a Mojave heater. Here are a few pics of the firewall. Had a piece cut to fit in 1/8" mild steel to mount the battery to. I also have to get supports welded to my battery tray so it is more sturdy.

On to the pics:

Yea I think it turned out good. I am just in a rush to get it running for winter, I dont have another vehicle so right now sucks.

Well it finally ran for the first time in over a year yesterday! Fired right up too which I was amazed by and sounded good. Got to finish up a few small things-swap water pumps, run brake booster line, hook up throttle and TV cables, clean up the wiring (tape and loom it), get 02 bung welded on my new headers and get the exhaust hooked back up.

I was so damn excited to actually hear it run though. It has been a long time! Once I get it all set up this week I have to re register and insure it. Then I will take it out for an easy run on some forest service roads. I hope the tbi is worth all the hassle it took!

Ill update as the week goes and I get more time to finish it up.

ITS ALIVE!!!!! Got it timed the other day and took it for a maiden voyage up and down the street yesterday! Runs ok, loud as hell with just the exhaust manifolds. Its definitely going to need a custom chip burned.

Just drove it from my old house to my new house. Doesn't run so hot. Runs really rich and definitely needs a chip burned for the TBI. And I am not sure what else is wrong with it but it is extremely gut less.

Well havent been doing much but I did get the headers on with a heated O2 sensor. Runs a lot better now, I think I had some leaks at the exhaust ports. Got a data cable made up and hooked it up to a lap top. Its running a little rich so I am going to re-time it, I think my buddy had it a little advanced when he did it.

Right now I am just saving up to insure and register it and then it will be back on the road. Local snap on guy in town has a shop and he is going to hook my exhaust up. Then I need to get a lap top and get some data logged and send it off to Brian at tbichips

Got her insured and re-registered, that cost me $175 since I waited almost 2 years after it expired. And right now it is at the exhaust shop getting the y pipe re-done so its not hanging below the driveshaft, also hooking up to my headers. Been doing some wiring work on it to clean up that as well.

Should be driving it daily next week. I still need to get a chip burned but I dont have access to a laptop right now with a serial port. So I may try to pick one up off of ebay. Ill get some pics up when I am done with the wiring so nobody laughs at me for that :D

Also ordered a mini started and a few other things from summit that should be here today.

Congrats on the registration. Kinda freaky when a project gets that close to completion!

Can't wait to see some pics.

Good luck on the serial port... they are rare now. You can get a USB/Serial device for cheap from a decent local computer store. (I don't know if someplace like Best Buy would sell them). Some of them can be a PITA to get working, but they have probably gotten better since the one I had.

Thanks, Im pretty stoked. Still have to get the fans wired up and clean up a few more things. Also, I am definitely going to need to regear it soon and get new tires. The tires are dry rotted pretty bad and it still has 3.73s. If I cant get ahold of 1 tons from my dad I am just going to re-gear the 10 bolt temporarily.

Trying to get a laptop to work with winaldl so i can log some data and get a chip burned. Its running great though and the exhaust is nice and tucked away now.
