Wow awesome! :waytogo: If Eric had anything to do with it I know its Bad ass! :thumb:

Okay, I am about ready to start gathering parts for the drive train swap. First, where wpild I go to find a proper harness or have my harness made right? I have the computer and wiring harness for a complete early 90's truck. I need the harness widdled down. Next, what distributor should I be running? And lastly, what torque convertor should I be looking at?

The Sierra really has not had anything done to it and has been dead reliable. I drive the truck everyday to and from work. Then on Wednesdays I drive the truck close to 100 miles round trip to Santa Fe and back home. I shoot a 3D archery course every Wednesday. A while ago I was too curious about what gears were in the diff's. After some math and counting the wheel revolutions versus the drive line revolutions I discovered she has 4.11's. With this little bit of info I am leaning towards 35" tires.

She does have a few issues that have cropped up. First, every once in a while the brake pedal will go closer to the floor boards than normal. I believe the brake master cylinder is on its last legs. Second, when I fill the tank up with fuel she has a small leak with the fill hose that goes from the filler neck to the tank. Third, every once in a while I can smell gas while driving the truck. Usually only when the window is down and the rear slider is open. I wonder if the fuel sloshing in the tank makes its way to the filler hose and starts to leak. Once the truck is parked the smell goes away and I cannot find any fuel on the ground.

Glad it is working well for you.

Does it have a charcoal canister?

Wow, that swb Dodge Stepside is a gem. Love it.:waytogo:

Thank you. She is coming together nicely for sure.

Nope. I am still in awe of this GMC. I had changed the oil a number of months ago and found gold glitter in the oil catch pan. I thought the motor was on its last legs. Some folks here stated they would drive it til she gave up the ghost. I have done just that and the engine still has not started to knock or lost power. I have the new drive train to swap in but, see no reason to do the swap while everything is in such good working order.

I had to fill the tank the other day. Since the fuel guage doesn't work I fill up after 200 miles. The last tank was 197 miles and she only used 15.564 gallons of fuel. Amazingly that is 12.657 miles per gallon! About half in town and half highway. I was super blown away by those numbers.

I guess that fuel mileage must have been an exception because I am right back at about 11-11.5. Just got lucky on that mileage.

I ordered some new shoes for the truck today. I hope they come in before the holiday. Otherwise it won't be til Monday or later I imagine. I ended up ordering the new BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2's sized 315-75-r16. I hope they are as good as all the initial reviews state. Also ordered Mickey Thompson 16x10 wheels. I also had them mount the tires with the white lettering facing out, balanced, and even ordered lug nuts.

The reason for this was I have two impact breaks on the current tires. The 31x10.5x16.5 BFG's were made in the 11th week of 2011. I imagine that since the tires are a little older and they have dry rot all over them that it may not have taken much to cause this damage. Tread life was still great but, the tires have just suffered due to the New Mexico sun.

I had my daughter pick out the wheels and tires since it is her truck. I thought it was pretty cool to have her make the decisions. She just turned 4 years old and I am super excited that she has ideas as to what she wants.

Very nice lol. You do realize my boy is 4 yr old too:D

Those bfgs just seem to crack on the sidewall alot even up here any Bfg older than about 4 years is gonna be cracking pretty bad. Still hold air drive down the road good and have good tread but sidewall cracking badly

Are your windows hard to crank? I haven't broken any handles, but the drivers side on mine was getting to be a real nightmare to raise up and lower, such that I wasn't sure I'd be able to get it to roll up the next time. Happened to have a spare regulator in another door, swapped it over, night and day difference. Can probably put the window up and down with one finger, and that is not an exaggeration. Didn't change any of the terrible seals, tracks, etc, just the regulator. Looked to me like the bushing that the crank handle shaft rides on was worn excessively. Dang, only got 30 years of life out of it. :(

Cool. I am hoping they are as good as the limited reviews say they are. Time will tell.

The window isn't difficult to roll up or down but, the original crank that was on the truck when I bought it was an aftermarket piece made in china. The replacement I bought was also made in china. The one I just bought was made in Taiwan. Maybe it will be better?

That bushing on my drivers side door on my pickup is sloppy and makes it hard to crank up the window--I pull up on the glass as I turn the crank to take the strain off that bushing and the gears in that little box the crank handle shaft goes into...makes it go up much easier and prevents the handle from busting off...(splines inside the crank handle are getting sloppy as well)..

If I silicone spray the channels and petrified rubber gaskets on the window track it helps a lot for awhile..but no doubt the regulator and gearbox are probably starved for some lube too..

I have drilled the rivets out on that gearbox for the window crank, and swapped the worn out gears and bushing/cover for ones off a 4 door GM car of similar vintage that was like new (probably never used!) from a salvage yard, they were identical !...just used pop rivets to put the bushing/cover back on,or self tappers..(I think it was an 80's Impala I got them from)..

It looks like I'll be hunting one of those down soon--my truck sat a lot more than anything, its just the past 2 years I've had to drive it as a daily driver (only vehicle I have registered any more)...the long period of sitting did the window channels and rubbers no justice..
My vent window frames are rotted badly enough at the bottoms that I siliconed the glass to the rubber, and never open them any more too..first time I tried rolling down the windows in months,it was very stiff, had to lube everything up good to get it freed up somewhat..

Well, bad news today. 4 Wheel Parts called and said that the wheel my daughter chose is not available. 4 Wheel Parts even called Mickey Thompson to see when it would be available and Mickey Thompson could not give a date. So, a while ago I had to cancel the whole order. Figures, as that is just my luck. No sense in worrying about it I guess, just frustrating is all. I could not find another wheel that my little girl liked from 4 Wheel Parts so, back to the drawing board.
