Well, I got tired of my S-10 daily driver. Plus, I wanted something full size and also 4x4 again.
So, i came upon this M1009. S10 is gone and here comes the M1009.

Its a SC truck, so its basically rust free.

Main purpose is to daily drive it. But, I would like to take some longer two track type wheeling trips. Not really expedition, but mild wanna be expedition.:D

Here it is the night I got it.

Here is a shot from the next day when it was raining. The paint really looks different when it is wet vrs dry.

Now, since this is going to be coming back to Michigan with me, I wanted to do something to protect it from rust as much as I could. So, here comes the bed liner. Inside and out.

The outside I wanted to just to the rockers... but I also wanted to do the wheel well arches too. So, I figured... what the hell, lets just do from the body line down. Well... the hood had a big surface rust spot where it looks like there may have been a engine compartment fire at one time. So, I coated the hood area too.

Here are a couple day time shots of the completed work.

And one night time shot of the old mule and me in downtown Greenville, SC. I love the looks I get. :D

After being so happy with the bedliner... I am really thinking of doing the upper portion in solid green. Not sure I really like the solid black with the camo. But... cant do it all at once! $$$$

I got my hands on a safari rack. After I fix my black out switch... the rack goes on.

Swap in some more comfortable seats.

I will probably tint the rear windows as I dont like everything on display.

Really thinking about a set of 33s to.

Then a radio and a CB will come. I hope to use the existing antenna mounts for these.

The some kind of starage compartment in the rear.

Need a spare tire too.

And someway to store my mountain bike, either on the roof rack (hard to get it up there though) or something in the back.

When I get back to Michigan I will be searching for a 700R4 and 208 setup.

Maybe some kind of rocker protection too.

Me likies!

What sort of liner is that? You're REALLY tempting me to do more of The Blazer and Big Ugly.

Talk to kert for rocker protection. AJM and The Blazer approved.

Looks good, I agree with going green on top. Is that als liner that you used?

A local guy... deal I couldnt refuse. Speedliner. Almost positive that I will be doing the top green. Just some details to work out first.

I like it! Don't forget about them mirrors though lol

I didnt want it to look like a mask the windows and blast it job. So, I left the mirrors and door handles uncoated. I am going to mask and paint the mirrors and doors handles flat black.

I don't hang out much at the expedition forums, but from what I understand, you'll need to meet the following conditions so you too can be an expedition 'wheeler:

1. Need a freezer/fridge in the truck; on;y ARB or Engel make suitable units.
2. Need a winch of at least 12K capability, preferably 16.5K. Anything else will jeopardize the safety of your family.
3. Can't have tyres (yes, 'tyres'...) larger that 33 inches. Otherwise you won't find a suitable replacement for a flat when you're somewhere in the Himalayas or Guatemala. Again, that would jeopardize the safety of your family. Oh, and the tyres can't be wide, they need to be narrow and skinny.
4. You'll need to wear multiple layers of Northface clothing. Inferior brands of clothing are unacceptable and would jeopardize the safety of your family (although the details how that would work are not being made public at this time...).

I'm sure the list is longer, but that's all I can think of right now.

You already have a diesel, so you get extra points for that already.

It's not British or Japanese, he's already failed most of their standards.

I hope to get the roof rack on tomorrow.

I will bolt it to the fiberglass roof and hope for the best. I will have a rubber 'gasket' made out of a plumbing coupler between the rack mounting foot and the fiber glass top. Then on the inside I will have a rubber washer, then a large fender washer, then a lock washer, then the nut.

I think that will stop the rack from wearing into the fiberglass over time because of vibrations. I will just have to keep an eye on it for a while to make sure it doesnt loosen up.
