Building a daily driver/expedition rig - M1009

I want to say Gamblers. Used to see them on a lot of Jeeps and my buddy had a set on his Toyota.

Really nice looking truck! Question for you, where do you have your rear license plate mounted? Mine hangs off the bumper on the drivers side and looks kinda stupid

On Big Ugly I just screwed mine to the tail gate. Might not want to do that to a M1009 though.

In some localities you have to have a plate light. I've never been hassled about it.

Oh, and SteelSoldier's CUCV forum has a very long thread about mounting plates. Goes all over the place and meanders around but some good info in it.

This is kind of how I want to do my Jimmy, which I may or may not have soon...

Nice.

Not Outlaws...Gamblers?

Those are gamblers. The five lug had five hole and the six and eight lug had six holes. Outlaws had like ten or twelve holes no matter the the lug pattern. Only way I know is I have a set of five lug that I got from an old timer wheel dealer and I called them the wrong name, needless to say I got filled in on them for 45 minutes!

I was thinking making some kind of mount for it to go on the tailgate. I'm pretty sure we need a plate light around here but I've been driving this for 6 months now and haven't been pulled over. Maybe they think It's still in the army :wink1:

There are holes in my tailgate where I think someone mounted one. But, I dont like that location. I will probably get something set up on the bumper or in the pintle hitch area. I dont have the pintle hitch, so that may work out nice.
I still have a temp plate. When I went home last to get the plate done... it was Presidents days and the Sec of State was closed. :doah:
So, I got another temp plate from the dealer to hold me over.

I swear I've done silly/stupid driving in Big Ugly right in front of cops back in Michigan and they just sat there.

Well hell, if the hitch is gone then throw it in there. No reason not to. Easiest and best solution then!

The wheels are turning again. Getting the itch to do something to it.

Sand ladders.

Bolt on sand ladders to the side of the truck.

Should be relatively easy, and and result in instant expedition mojo.
