building a truck and using the paper work from another truck

ok, i asked a guy who does this about this, & he said if you own both vehicles it is legal to move vin here in AR, but they also allow us to register salvaged vehicles here and that is only time its allowed. when 2 alike vehicles are wrecked, 1 in the front, the other 1 rear ended & they are put together to make 1 good car, they can make the vin match. so, they remove vin off wrecked dash/firewall and put it on the good front 1/2 of car.

if they arent same vehicle this isnt possible so not sure how the k30 k5/10 debate would go. if you own both tho, i dont see why not reg as k5 if its a k30 cut down w/blazer body or trazer?

OK you're in CA, is he too or are we talking about YOUr friend here?
I have done some research because I want to put together a crew cab with the rear half of the blazer and I can legally register it as a SUV and no weight fees if it is that way as long as I don't take the top off and the rear seats and load it like a pickup truck.
Actually if you permanently mount a camper shell and carpet it inside and put something permanent in there you can go to DMV and have it checked and they will remove the weight fee, and give you a passenger vehicle License plate.

They also allow us in arkansas to get what they call a builders title with custom car tags. So you can build one vehicle out of two or three or whatever and get a builders title for the car as long as you have a title and vin plate.

That is how I registered and tagged my buggy. Its nothing but tube and a couple fender skins but is registered and tagged as an 86 swb pickup.
