Building Blazer still

I did the 4th annual Woods Run at Moody Hill in Northern Colorado yesterday. Had a good time but had carnage again!:o I hit my little skid plate and broke the tail of my T400 Tranny. I have rubber mounts on all of my crossmembers, I guess I hit it just right!:dunno:

I have 2 crossmembers, one that mounts the Tranny and the other mount for the transfer case. The little skid plate was mounted to the Tranny crossmember and not to the frame. I was going to build a big strong skid plate but ran out of time and kept puttin it off. Well that cost me now! I will have a Bad Azz skid plate on it before I go again.

The Blazer "THUMPER" is in Fruita Colorado right now getting a BA Skid plate built by S&S Metal Works. These are the guy's that helped me out at BB this year. They are going from front to back for me making sure everything was done correctly and will hold up to Rock Crawling. They will tune my shocks also. They are fixing the Tranny, swapping in a 2.75" Double Ended Ram for the 2.5" Ram I have now that is not big enough for the fat Blazer. They will be installing a 42 spline ARB in the rear with Trophy Truck 42 spline Full Float Axels & Hub's in the rear so I do not break anymore than I should. Wyocowboy is buying my current ARB and most likely the Chrome Moly axels also that I have in the rear. I just want to drive this thing and not break!!:D I have gotten a little frusterated about breaking down because I have used all the best parts but the installs have not been up to par. S&S Metal Works will solve the install problems I have done to make this a reliable Rig!:woot:I hope!!

Omg!!!

I must agree with some of the other member comments, this thing is simply awe inspiring.:bow::bow:
Custom fabrication is my business so for what it's worth, you have built one of the best rigs I have had the pleasure to check out!!!
Hope to run into you at BB13!!:thumb:

Thanks kellyjohn!:waytogo: It has been a lot of work and I almost have all the bug's worked out so now it's time to play hard!!:D
I will be at BB13 and hope to see you there! BB is a good time and you meet a lot of cool people.:pimp:

IMO the double crossmember is just asking for trouble. I ended up having a t-case adapter brake and I blame it on some flex between the crossmembers. If I were to keep my old pig I was going to make a cradle for the cases and just have a pair of bushings for the engine and a pair for the case mounts. I know some people say they never have a problem but I know of 2 rigs that the double crossmember was the cause of problems. I'm sure people will chime in about how they have never had a problem that way but that is my noob experience.

MNorby I agree! Funny you said something because I am having S&S build me a custom craddle crossmember under the Rig when they build the Skid Plate.:D This should get rid of the flex you are taking about and give me some more clearance! Thanks for letting me know I am heading in the right direction.:thumb:

Sold most of it and my rockwells to a couple friends. Basically kept the tires/wheels, chevy 60 knuckles out, and my 14 bolt 5.38 gears. Built a high pinion 60, new 14ff, one of my spare th400s, ordered an atlas2, and looking for a 6.0 engine.

You gonna be ready for Blazer Bash?? You have a lot of work in front of you!! I hope so!! Need to supercharge the 6.0 when you get it! Be a rock bouncer then!! LOL:D I will look around for a 6.0 for you in my area.

Not really planning on blazer bash next year at this time. Even if I did have it going by then will want to be certain to get any bugs out locally before going on any bigger trips.

Thumper is getting a Bad Azz tranny good for 1200hp with reverse manual valve body & a Bad Azz skid plate under the belly so I do not break off the tail of the tranny again! Trading my 2.5 Double Ended Steering Ram from PSC for a PSC 2.75 Ram & beefing up bracing that holds the Ram to the axel. Getting a Sway Bar or Anti Rock put on the front. Getting Vanco Hydro Boost brake system. Installing RCV double spline 300m shafts in the rear with Drive Flanges. Tuning the shocks and being looked over by a pro.
I am getting Thumper back the weekend of Novermber 30th. Going to test drive on 21 road in Grand Junction Colorado. Gonna drive the hell out of it this winter and next spring!:waytogo:
