what did you use for bushings?

from the looks, it might bind a little. i think the bushings need to be parrellel with the springs, when flexing the front is gonna be pushed down while the springs lift drop the back down. if you lift the front of the bushings it shouldn't bind. maybe it won't bind the way it is, im not sure either way. id like to see how it works out for you. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I suspect you're still gonna have axle wrap with that bar...
or at the very least bad anti-squat.

I'm going to take my chances and try it at least. It's the most bind-proof traction plan I've ever seen.

As to bad anti-squat, I can't say I disagree with you a bit, but I think that will do much more to plant the tires to the surface than wheel hop.

Bushings are rear bushings for our trucks.

It is not going to bind the way you described. The front portion is a, "Shackle" of sorts that will allow the axle to travel up and down.

The pumpkin really shouldn't move forwards or backwards no matter how the springs move around, so I doubt that it will bind.

This setup may not work as well as I want it to, but I'm nearly 100% sure that it will not bind. If it doesn't work, oh well, at least I don't have bind-city.

Anti wrap is DONE!!

This thing works GREAT from what I've done to it (3,000 RPM clutch drops on the road).

No chance to flex it out yet and check for binding, no front driveshaft yet. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif But it's on the way /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Someday I'd like to get something similar under my Burb, but I'm sure that will be a long time off.

tim did you end up welding it to the pumkin after all or what?

there are inharent problems to welding cast stuff, it is hard but britle, so if you bash it and your welds hold it might just brack off a chunk of your diff.

when they cast that stuff it stays hot a reallly long tim and cools over days,, you best bet would be nickle cadmium rod or brazing. or i was thinking bend or mider some tube to go from the axle tube uo to the top of the diff and then to the other side them mabey a clamp aroung where the diff narrows at the pinion and weld to it.

Those welds are not going to break. I am not worried about them in the least bit.

Cast gets a funny color when you weld it, that's about it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

the welds wont break no. the cast iorn arount the welds might brack off /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

hopefully not.

i have know of guys welding the plate off a big tamping atachment to a back hoe with brazing welds wont hold to the cast.

That is not the same cast as an engine block or adaptor, it's most likely a ductile cast so they can do the 'rosette' welds without worrying about the housing breaking and the tubes spinning.
