Burb chop down.

hey craig, sorry man, I have gotten lazy, and it's warm out... so skirts are back in... I just got a little distracted...

I did get the driverside rocker panel up, and I am finishing that up today. (ie: painting, and filling the gaps/overlaps)



BUT!!!!

I took monday off. I told my bosses that I had a bunch doctors appointments made....

They don't let me book vacation days off to work on my truck. I think that's a really bogus excuse to not let me take my vacation days... So now I gotta lie about them...

I also have thursday off, but wednesday is my birthday, and thursday will be hang over city, so i probably won't get much, if anything done that day.

But yeah, I'll take a picture of rocker panel, because I like to take picture and whore them out on here...:rolleyes:

And I did some prep work for the passsenger side rear wheel well (ie: cutting the sucker in half, and grinding the paint off for welding.) So monday I can just throw it on the bed, and HOPEFULLY get started on putting up the other door...

I gotta find the camera again. My dad put it somewhere, and I cannot locate the bloody thing, so I may have borrow one of my buddy's cameras instead.

And also I will be taking less pictures this time around, unless I do something different. It's pretty much the same operation duplicated from side to side, so I will just take finished product photos this time around. everyone cool with that??


Oh, I ran into a slight problem with the jet engine... I built it in my basement, and realized I cannot get it out of there now.... So now I have a complete jet engine in my basement, and no way to get it out.

SO if anyone is interest in a jet engine complete with afterburner, mounting tabs, and preclearanced for chevy wheel wells, just let me now.

Uuuummmmm?????? Isn't that what we all work our A$$es of for is to take vacation? It really is none of your bosses business the reason to take a vacation. YOU EARN VACATION throughout the year to do what you want, when you want. Tell your boss to fock himself and that you earned paid time-off and you will do what you like.

They might be able to dictate when you take your vacation to some degree but def not dictate what you do on your earned time off.

If you can't get it out of your basement how is the buyer gonna get it out? :haha:

That is exactly what I thought too. It really cheeses me off, because i worry whenever I take time off... My bosses get all pissy, and when I do get the time off, I end up with all the chitty jobs at work.

It's like working for a bunch of five year olds. If you tell them off, then they won't talk to you for almost a month. They just kinda come by and talk to the guy/girl next to you, but never you, yourself. Really silly childish games they play there...

Craig, if you want the Jet engine, you'll have to disassemble it yourself... It was difficult enough to build one, but if you come a nd take it apart, then you "MAY" be able to remember how it goes back together again...

Oh and don't worry about detailed pictures either.. I'll have that covered. And I found a nice hill to park the truck for taking pictures. hahaha.












oh, I have a questions you guys will be able to take of:

How would I go about trimming the front fenders for clearance... I took a look at it, and cannot figure it out...

Kinda silly if you think about it. I can take on a project like this, and yet can't do one of the most basic body mods out there, hahaha.

Okay so i got a bunch of things done today...

Nothing really specacular really, and not really anything somebody would notice right off the bat.

I got the one Rear inner fender half in, and did ALOT of prep work.

Work is gonna suck tomorrow. My arms are tired from holding the grinder up all day...


Edit: Plus I was extremely hung over this morning
 
yoi know exactly what you mean about being hungover. the only days i get off are sat. and sun. and i go drinkin fri. night and sat. night so i'm hungover all weekend. so needless to say i never get anything done. it seems as though the only time i get anything done is when i get off of 10 hours of work. figures
 
I CAN'T FIND THE BLOODY CAMERA!!!

hahaha, sorry brotha, my older brother took both cameras somewhere, and I have to ask him to bring them back.... Or atleast one of them.

The problem is he is working nights right now.. So I may not get a chance to talk to him until saturday...



Randy, I completely understand. That is what happens to me all the time too. The only major difference is I only work 9 hours, but usually wednesday, and thursday are big drinking nights too...

My good buddy is a cook, and works crazy hours, so i go drinking with him when he is off work...



I'll leave a note on the table for my brother. Maybe he can get me a camera sooner then later......
 
okay, so I found the camera. I'll have some pictures up today.

I am also running low on cutting discs, so I have to for-go putting up the other half of the inner fender...

So I will start working on putting up the other door instead. I can't let a beautiful day like this go to waste... It's the perfect mix of sun, and cool breeze.

SO yeah, when I get the door up, I'll snap a few more pics, and maybe even show you guys my birthday present.... And no it wasn't a stripper, just a very useful tool to add to anyones truck..
 
Okay, so I ran into a few snags while fitting the door...

First off, I ran out of cutting discs. And there was one cut I needed to do with the sawzall, but alas I couldn't find one FREAKING blade!!!

I have two unopened packs of blades, and one opened pack... Lets just say I got pretty pissed.

I had to resort to a hacksaw for those cuts...

The first three pictures are of the rear door kinda fitted. Amazingly enough to get the door to fit right in after this point is all little shaves, and deburs, and stuff like that...

The last two are my birthday gift. I got a sweet CB. My parents kinda missed my 21st birthday, so they made up for this time around. I mean they were around, but money was too tight to get me anything decent. (a few weddings were kicking around that year....)

SO there you guys go. A valid update with some pictures. If I get the thing welded up today, then there will be more pictures for me to whore. Infact, I may even take the truck out for a quick jaunt around my subdivision...

hahaha, yeah when your truck is parked for so long, it kinda gets turned into a beer depository... hahaha.

I have like 12 cases in the front seat, and a bunch of random bottles I have to find a box for, hahaha.

So I got the door welded up there. Pictures are included.

Thats very cool are you planning on trying to make it very nice? Or is function your main goal? Are you going to bob the frame behind the rear spring hangers? My build is a 79 crew cab and im makeing the frame as short as possible behind the cab. Its slow going as i have several projects going at the same time.

I am trying to make it "presentable".

It's going to be my DD, and I would like to be able to take a girl out in the truck with out her thinking I recently pulled the thing out of a scrap heep.

It'll look decent once I am done (hopefully), but yes funtion over form.

It's kinda got a dual function to it. It shave wieght, and it will eventually be the absolute rear of the truck.

I want to relocate the fuel tank between those rear fenders, and wrap tube around it, and integrate it into a roll cage. And boatside... maybe.

I am not going to bob the back end yet. I want to see if I can work out a four link with some 2.5 rocks. then I can chop away at the frame freely, without worrying about rear spring hangers.

So no rear bumper, only rear tires. I figure a 90 departure angle will be pretty damn useful out on the trail.

But then again I may have to keep this thing on the street for a while, so if I fur link, and I have no means to tow if to/from a trail, I will make a small bumper, and keep the departure angle as close to 90 as possible.



But all those things won't happen for atleast a year. I just want to drive the blasted thing first. I mean hell, today I was even thinking about relocating the fuel tank to the bed, because I didn't know what to do with the fuel spout.

But I worked out a plan before I started chopping... again.

That's a secret though. THat'll be one of the last pictures, besides the hill climb finish, hahaha.
 
Sorry for the long winded answer, I just like to talk about trucks alot. And when somebody asks me what I am going to do it.... I go off the deep end.
