Burbie, the build that wasn’t supposed to happen right now but is anyway.

Wife’s big block 2500 obs 2wd burb. Tow pig/kid hauler
Bonus!! I found out my local fruit market had pickled eggs!! Almost dumped them on the floor of the burb too!! Wife woulda lovvvedd that!!

If you dump the pickled eggs on the floor she will NEVER notice the burnouts. Or just eat the eggs, gas her out, and then do burnouts.

We’ll the test of the towing capabilities have been done. Max GVW on this one, last minute because Ethel decided to be a beeotch.
Towed the big grades with ease, kept her between 55-60 at half throttle and only had it kick down in 2nd at the tops of the big hills and was spinning 3200 when it did that and no slower than 40 on the biggest grade. Otherwise power left to spare just in case I needed it. Nice tow rig overall.. I am totally sold on the bbc/4l80 combo..

Update, the burb has been going steady with no issues.. it needs some general maintenance soon. Otherwise the mpg hasn’t changed much which I think is due to the tire size and lift. The wife is loving it!

Any updates on this thing?

I had a 96 K2500 (that I sold to my brother last year) that had the L29/4l80e combo in it. It did pretty well, even on Colorado mountain passes towing my blazer. Always have liked the L29

I just picked up a 93 TBI454/4l80e burban over the weekend (was looking for a 96+ for the L29, but this one was clean and freaking cheap, so had to do it). I want it to be a backup tow rig/light off-road rig (sounds kinda similar to what you were going to do with this one). I plan to do a SAS to it eventually too. Even with it being a TBI, I've heard they still de-tune the crap outta them from the factory (very similar to the L29). The local guy who tuned my 8.1 said to bring it over to his place and we will burn a chip for it. I think I will do a full exhaust system first and then tune it (again, similar to what you have done, haha), just to get the TBI454 running as good as I can for the time being.

Good looking burban...I love these body styles of burbans!

That’s nice and clean! I like your plan!
The burbie has been chugging along with zero issues, towing when asked hauling the kid or myself around.. etc.. literally the best vehicle we have ever owned..
One question I have, you live in California, are you in a no smog county?

So good ol burbie was brought down a notch on the reliability totem pole this weekend.. the fuel pump died literally as we hitched up the travel trailer for our local trip. I guess it’s better here at the house vs the gas station or on a hill..
My wife’s got an amazing boss. She let us borrow her new L5P dmax!! 29779471-D6DF-4DE2-9CD3-DE2223E8B9AF.jpeg6388E972-7207-4F43-98BD-A6F4EFCF4A10.jpeg

I had the wife get a new pump and she brought home a delphi hangar assembly which was nice cause they’re pretty nice!!
I cut the hole in the floor, removed the old pump and fought with the stupid fuel lines.. even with the removal tool they were stubborn.

I was in a hurry so excuse my booty fab. I welded some strap to the edges and right stuff glued it to the floor and sealed up the seams. I have no air leaks. So I consider it good!! Just drove it 150 miles to Scott’s and back so she’s fixed solid!
