Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

I know its incorrect but i have this "theory". That up to 3" lift, you get better steering geometry by not having correction. Is my theory correct? Probably not, so you would certainly be best off to get a steering correction. Some day i plan on installing a 2.5" lift on one of my trucks and doing a before and after on the steering correction.

Is it possible to move the front axle forward an inch with zero rates without crossover steering?? I figured this would give me clearance behind the wheel when turning. But I beleive that I would have to shorten the draglink an inch too wouldnt I?? Also I called ORD and I think I may piece a system together with them. Its still hard to beat the price on the suspension connection site.

I have wondered the same thing. I figured if it were just a street truck you would be ok, but it would make flex/steering even worse.

seem like somebody with too much time and money on your hands to sit around and just build something.........:D

Pretty much:D. No girlfriend, not a lot of real friends, kid almost grown, topped out pay at work, and turning 34 next month. I think there's a name for it? Midlife crisis, yeah thats it. :haha:

what do alcans cost?

Does any one know offhand a general essimate of what a set of alcans would cost?? I'm guessing alot, but I'm willing to scope the idea.:dunno: I've seen in other posts that they are the king of the ride for leaf springs. This thing is going to be my DD and trip vehicle. So I may pay more now to get the better ride. It'll slow down the build, but I guess thats not always a bad thing:rolleyes:

34 is not midlife, more like beginning of life.
I am 45 and am getting close to midlife crisis, I actually feel the seeds are planted, and a few more nudges from my wife and life, and I will be full swing.
Good thing I have a few projects worth diving into.

I actually hope 34 is midlife for me. I'd die of boredom if I make it to retirement. and I dont wanna make it to so old I cant hold my poo. If i get back to diapers its over for me:)

I used to say that when I was in my 20's, I said I don't want to live till I am senile because I watched my grand parents get senile at 80, so I said I want to die at 50.
Well now I am approaching 50, at 45 years old, and I am freaking out, I don't want to die at 50, I haven't lived enough, so now I take care of myself and hope to live healthy till the day I die, when ever God decides I had enough.:thumb:

Partial progress update.

I have an all brass heavy duty radiator coming tuesday. I'm buying the tires monday. The money is all there for my lift. If I go with the Alcans I'll probably have to stick with my factory 8" rallys for now.:( But oh well, I can get the other rims soon enough. I'm working on about a $2600 budget for lift and tires right now. I'll add a little as needed to get it in the air and on the road.

After that my kids 72 blazer gets full attention.:dunno: Its gotta get done.
But we work at his pace so I'll get to play with one of my 2 trucks now and then this summer.

More work and pics this week.

I'm pretty sure I'll feel the same way in 10 years. But its fun to say right now:)

I don't know, I lived thru wars all my life and didn't have the chnce to feel sorry for myself, now that I have had a few years of peace abd approaching some hard times, I started to feel it for the first time in my life, and it doesn't help that my wife who is a stay at home mom (my choice) and does whatever when ever by herself, keeps complaining that she never gets time for herself (I stay with the kid when I am home so she can get some time off, but I am working when I am away.
So it's starting to get to me, and I am wanting time for myself, and something to enjoy.
Haven't had a break by myself for 7 years.
If we get a break it's the family.
But hey, if you guys feel it now and you are single, now is the time, no one to hold you back.:thumb:

finding out how old some of you are.........really explains some stuff about your builds and how much you're doing all at once! Oh to be young, dumb, and full of stuff again!!!

I spent 6 years on Submarines in the Navy.......I figured out that I worked the equivalent amount of time that someone works at 40 hours/week for 15 years during that 6 year period of time and didn't have anywhere near the time off as that person did during their 15 year stretch. I've been out of the Navy now longer than I was in working that 40 hour/week job for another 6 years before my body said I'd had enough. I worked equivalent to 20 years now at a full time job in just 12. I have a family with kids that will be driving in the next 2 years and I look back at all of the decisions I've made and I marvel in the fact that I think things out rationally now before I spend everything I have on a project that I'm going to get rid of in the next few years so I can start over again.......thanks for the reallization!

I know your not talking about me..... Hahah:whistle:

Don't take it personal!! I've been there.......I just didn't reallize there were so many "youngsters" around taking on such large builds! But it does make since now......

Haha no i dont mind at all, thats why im on here so i can learn about all this stuff. Im not taking on a big build, i just want a nice stockish looking truck, and i have always been in love with these things, my dad had 3.
