Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

Is the oil pressure switch under the cruisecontrol, near the dizzy just a switch? or is that a sending unit and the ecm determines when to shut the fuel pump off? Or is there 2 different sensors for that. i noticed today that when the oil pressure gets to 25ish the engine does its little stumble.. but if i keep the R's up and the pressure with it it never stumbles... That is the one sensor i forgot to change

OK.. ill replace it then.. just wasnt sure if it was the right one or if there was 2. Orilley's was confusing me on their site.

link doesn't show anything:dunno:

Theres 2 different AVAILABLE switches... but that isn't to say that they are both on my truck.... One says its for trucks with an idiot light, the other is for ones with a gauge... going by orilley's... I have the gauge. I guess ill get one and see

Yeah I see that, that is not helpful....

THe ECM sensor is below the distributor, the gauge sensor is above the oil filter.

Ill check that thanks....

I'm not sure, but by driving it I still think it's spark instead of gas....

I watched the pressure today on the way to work cause it started cutting out again and it stayed up the whole time... but the odd part is it seemed to be loading up and actually popped back through the tbi a few times....:dunno: dint think that could happen unless it was off time a bunch... It runs fine and real strong when its not acting up so that cant be it. actually has picked up quite q bit since the TBI rebuild.

Have any of you ever did the whole "shut the key off and turn it back on to make it back fire" thing. I remember my dad doing that going down hill when i was a kid... he'd down shift and kill the key, then turn it back on and it would go BOOM.

thats exactly what this was doing.... I down shifted when it acted up to see if keeping the R's up would help.. and when it died out for a second then came back it popped through the TBI a couple times quick.... so i shifted back to OD and limped it to work. another mile down the road it came out of it and drove the last 5 miles with no issues.........

It had to have had gas to pop back, sooo It looks like I may be trying a new harness anyway :dunno: :doah:

Data log and find out what tr problem is.
I'm gonna order the cable tonight infact :waytogo: tunerpro is free right? any suggested sites to get it from so i dont get an infected version...?
Have you tried driving it around for a day with the oxygen sensor un plugged?
No i didnt know you could.... what does that tell? I can surely try it

downloaded tunerpro..... I hope more stuff pops on screen when I connect a cable... right now its basically a big grey screen.... Wish I could get a cable locally.... all the ones I'm finding say they go to a certain scanner....

got a cable in the mail.... now I have to figure out hoe to use tunerpro... cant find any instructions on their site...:dunno: I may just be too stupid to use it lol

thanks for the link :waytogo: I subscribed to it. Now there's a lot of reading to be done. hope my cable comes soon. Been dealing with this thing WAY too long now,,,, I need to enjoy it some... It's gotten to me so much I've been contemplating selling it even... and I DONT wanna do that.

figured out an interesting thing today... that ground that I fixed last fall is loose on the screw I put it under... so I got it running and wiggled it... then pulled it off, and it stayed running..... so its grounded somewhere else too I guess. and all I did is connect the 2 wires when I made it run... I was wiggling all kinds of wires and such again and still cant figure out what could be causing the dieing thing. My ALDL cable just seems to be stuck in the mail.... I'll be surprised if it gets here this week:rolleyes:

Also my injectors are LOUD..... is that normal? never noticed it before

Driving it without the o2 sensor will just take it out of the equation and the computer will run on fueling defaults. I like to use it to establish that that it's not an issue. Once upon a time a friend had a 91 suburban that would run good cold for several minutes and then after it warmed up, would surge up and down at idle until it killed itself. We went round and round trying all kinds of stuff! Even logging data and found nothing. Finally one day I decided to see how it ran with the o2 sensor unplugged. Low and behold, it ran great and never missed a beat. Mind you, this was a new o2 sensor!

I can try it but it dosen't run bad at all... idles smooth and runs like a top. then just like shuts off. the engine light comes on for a second and if im watching I can gun it and it'll catch n run for a second or an hr...? never know. never really stumbles or gets rough or anything.

last year I couldn't catch it.. it just quit. I tied them grounds together and reattached them to ground and then the current version of shutting its self off started
