C30 4 Door Ext Cab

The front horizontal side markers would indicate that the 454 engine in it is a smaller peanut port 454 head engine, and not a large oval port 454 head engine from the 70's and early 80's.

It does have a different front clip then original

Cool truck. I think the 6 liter swap is an abomination but to each his own.
Well I wouldn't call it that.
Most of the crew cab trucks I had got the 350 sbc and they did the job fine.
One had a 6.2 diesel that pulled hard but slow and one had a 454 bbc that I sold to Paul @ryoken .
If I had plans to just use it for personal conveyance and didn't plan to pull anything a 6.0 ls is more than adequate.
I pulled my blazer on a trailer with the 350 carbureted truck 1980 4x4 and it was great for years.
I don't race when towing anyway .

The complaint here isn't speed.
My point at least was where in the rpm range the LS make their torque at., old school SBC, 6.2 and big block make more tq lower in the rpm range.
Even outside of towing...a ext, crew cab dually truck like this a fat pig. With zero aerodynamics, the 6.0 is going to sit at a higher rpm to move it down the Rd. Fuel mileage will stuffer. 6.0 aren't know for great fuel mileage in the first place with lighter, more aero trucks they came in.
The swap won't yield that great of a return. Unless the 454 is blown up. The time and money is better spent on a overdrive trans.

But what do I know? I am knuckle-dragging neanderthal, that likes big blocks, 4 speeds and carburetors.
I don't dislike them but I don't need them.
I have a bbc 454 tbi sitting in my shed waiting for the right vehicle, one that comes with a bad engine or no engine

My "regular" truck is a tbi 454. With a 4L80E. On 33s. pulls 12-13 mpg the highway, all day, every day. Runs perfectly. That's what most 6.0 get. And I have more low end any day of the week.

Hate the tail lights, but love the truck other than that. I don't even hate the wheels, but 19.5 Alcoas would look really good. It's even got two swing out tool boxes in the bed. Given that, I'd say this maybe hasn't been sitting that long? Seems like those have only been out for a short while, or maybe it's just that I've only noticed them more recently (like the last couple of years). I dig the fuel tank in the bed, but isn't that illegal for gas? Pretty sure here it is illegal unless it's diesel.

It's legal to transport gas in a bed tank as long as it's not plumbed into the truck. Diesel can legally be plumbed into the truck.

Considering how many of the people here like gas engines I'm surprised at the 6.0 hating. Had to reread the comments to make sure it wasn't a 6.2 diesel swap hahaha.

I don't think anyone hates the 6.0 ( I don't hate them, I have one)
It more of the fact it doesn't make sense to us, to swap in a truck of this size.
Blazer swap....sure, C10 swap....absolutely.

I vote 4BT swap or some other small turbo diesel. I like diesels and you can hot rod it to get some power and also get really good fuel economy.
