Yes you can . But have you priced gears and good install kits ? I rather bolt in and change oil . Locker or posi is stupid money for them even . BIG axle BIG money .

It amazes me that there aren't more of those around in this area. I've seen 2 or 3, and there were from your area!! I'm done buying and selling stuff, but I still look for stuff. More or less an addiction, can't not look for stuff lol. Only way to get one cheap is someone who doesn't know what they are...I'll look around, I drive all over this worthless state......

I am the same, I am done buying and selling.
I am slowly selling some stuff but I still spend a couple of hours per day looking, can't stop.
 
I have a bunch of small stuff that I need to list n TRY to get rid of. I hate throwing stuff out that eventually someone might want/need. I'm gonna be getting another truck with supposedly an NV4500, see how that goes trying to sell that. I might swap it into the 2 door Tahoe I'm getting as a package deal, but we'll see.

I went on m/p looking, and found a crew cab HD, always wanted one of those, but really don't need anything that heavy duty. Also found an 02 with the 8.1 bad trans for $2300 I think. Tempting, love to put that un my '00 thats already SAS'd.
 
I'd get it for my truck thats already 4L80 4wd, so wouldn't need trans anyways. Being its out of a GMT-400(ish) it would be plug n play. Just be nice to have an 8.1 CCSB SAS'd lol.
 
Oh that guy . . He is asking STUPID MONEY with no hubs or other rear to match .

These in 4x4 only were 5.13 gear and a dana 80 rear with odd ball 37 spline .

His price with all he has missing is just crazy .

So it'd be a little work to fit a D60 under there?
they did dana 70 with the THICK snow fighter inner c-ends . and some other little tweeks .

i have had brain farts of building a axle but its almost as much as buying it and just swapping it . and if you build it you still need the 10 lug wheel hubs or run 8lug p30 19.5 rims front and 10lug rear .

and these trucks come 4.63 rear dana 80 . or option of 5.13 rear . and in the 4x4 you get only 5.13 as there was no option for 4.63 gear back then and still now for the 60/70 axle .
 
Take a 99-04 ford 60 and extend the tube on the short side and toss on some nice inner Cs. 79 ford shafts and there’s your housing. You can run 4.56 without much issue I’d say. Probably pretty easy to get an adapter set for the lug pattern?
 
Or what about grab f550 axles? Little more work for swap, but easy access to parts. Could convert to leaf or get pre-05.

Just cause the 99-04 could bolt in and has 3.5 tubes. Off the shelf inner c makes it’s easier. That’s about the only reason. The 05 axles are better at everything.

The lug pattern change to 10lug with part of the pattern overapping is crazy money .

Ford 99-04 axles up here in heavy rust belt rare .

Reid inner "c's" pair is not cheep for keeping king pin as i do not want ball joint .

Custom shafts more money . Labor & time to weld up more money .

You know this all to well tho mr.dana 70 build front .

Dont want ball joints or unit bearings or ford only lug pattern .

Rust belt i am in finding these axles is starting to get hard with out being so rusty or junk or stupid money .

Local ford only junk yard is getting 2,500+tax just for front and rear no brakes or locking hubs or wheels . Then another 500 or so + tax for radius arms and coils .

I have looked in to it all trust me . Even hillbilly wizard new housing and tubes plus all parts and still need labor and time and mod frame to clear front differential to cross member .

In the end time & parts i am still money ahead buying the ex-fedex one posted in here with all the stuff he has and is tossing in the deal and for me i just set body on with my driveline and roll .

Damn dude. We are tripping over superduty axles here. At the time I built mine, it was worth it. That doesn’t seem to be true anymore.
