California headers???

Quick question? My new headers don't have the heat riser tube setup for the air cleaner flap? Will I need to fab something up to keep it for SMOG check in CA or should I not worry about it?

Yeah, you will need that. I have seen an adapter that hose clamps onto on of the tubes and the heat riser attaches to the air cleaner housing.

Single pump or Dual pump

Hey, I found these headers and they are CA legal. The only question is they come with offerings for single pump or dual pump applications. Did any of our trucks come with two smog pumps or is it referring to pumping into one or both sides of the engine bank. I've only seen one smog pump pumping into both manifolds in every engine bay I've been in. Any ideas??

Does your motor have a smog pump on it?

Thanks man, any links to it? If not, I'll just make one out of sheet metal/rivets

Its just a little piece of tube with a cross bar welded across one end, that hose clamps to the header. Doesn't really do anything.

Make something that looks halfway decent, and install it. As long as it looks fairly legit, you'll be fine. It won't be any less effective than the stock piece.

Reviving an old question

Hedman has a set if headers that will fit the 67-91 2wd K5 but only 82-91 4wd. Now I know I've been known to be a bit dense in the head sometimes but what could have changed besides the transmission to make the figment change. I don't care about retaining the a/c compressor cuz it's already gone. Don't have angled plugs either. Could it be something with the front suspension set up? That's all I can figure, but I'm new at this still. Sorry if I'm beating a dead dog.

I'd say the rear shackles on the front springs on 4x4's is the main source of problems when it comes to headers not fitting right...
