Would lets say going to a dual or 4 piston caliper add more stopping power to our trucks?

I found these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wil-140-11290-r that should "bolt on" our trucks. Curious if it would be beneficial for the cost?

Insomnia kicked in, and this is usually when I get these random thoughts and my brain wont fully process all the info.

What makes them more powerful? Is it the extra pistons pushing on the pad for more clamping force?

I wonder what would be a better upgrade the calipers or a master cylinder. Never heard of anyone around here doing the calipers, was surprised I found any.

More clamping force generated by increased piston area for the hydraulics to act upon.

In the end, if you can brake to the point where you lock up the tires, more braking power won't help you.

There are other factors though. These could possibly help with brake fade.

It needs to move under it's own power before brake upgrades become a concern.

I agree but like I have previously said you can't rush perfection.:D

Insomnia kicked in and was just thinking out loud last night. It sure gets quiet when you are the only one not sleeping.

It's hard to beat the price of caliper replacements at the auto parts store - $12 each + core. These do look really nice however

You do realize that a remanned caliper is like $20 at any parts store right?

Wilwood is entry level when you get down to the real deal. Decent stuff but they tend to have a lot of flex in the caliper.
If you want to really hurt your head and pocket book search out The brake man stuff.

Light weight, AL. bodies, chrome moly machined bridges to stop flex in the caliper MMMmmmm good ****.

Yes they cost a lot, yes they are worth it.

I have a set of those calipers on one of my cars. Not only is the clamping force increased, but more importantly it spreads the force across the brake pad more evenly. I sometimes open track race this car and it has literally caught the caliper dust seals on fire as well as some yellowstuff brake pads. These new calipers and redstuff pads are doing the job much better, along with some cryo treated rotors.

I have locked all of my tires up with 33s... So I don't see the point?

The willwoods or the brake mans stuff.

I never was impressed with my trucks braking even when I could lock up all 4.

Locking your tires up is not the test of good brakes. Good brakes should be able to take your tires right before the point of locking up and hold them there.
