can some one explane a tbi power charger

That manifold will not work with those heads. You have to get the Vortec bolt pattern Manifold and they are more expensive.

Ira

furthermore, the TBI intakes are said to be more restrictive than a regular dual plane (and more expensive). get a standard dual plane that matches the heads, and an adapter for the TB.

In 87 the angle of the 4 center bolts on the Intake Manifold changed the angle that they enter the cylinder head also but only on the TBI engines.

well i stand corrected. but a vortec head also is a power increase for these motors right? a friend of mine used them on his street stock circle track car. rules made them add 50 lbs to the car.

yes, a very noticable improvement. :deal:

Yeah the ad removes 43.99+ shipping from your wallet. The filter is still above it and that is where the restriction comes from. That and the injectors are right in the air path on a TBI engine.

Please excuse the poor maintenence, marina yards are brutal on air filters, throw in some I'm old and fat too...... :wink1:

But, as you can see it's a much more "flow friendly" environment..

Can't wait to do my dual intake mod.... :woot:

And Chris, here's another view of CFM Tech's stuff...

But actually my suggestion would be to start with some sweet headers and good exhaust if your looking for more power.......

I'm moving some stuff around on mine so I can just sit the air cleaner directly on top of the TB... no need to spend the $43. What all has to be changed and what machine work has to be done to run vortec heads on our TB motors? Maybe another thread...

That wont be the same... radiusing the airflow as it comes out of the filter and how it gets to the tbi is critical.. With the charger/salad bowl, you've hogged out all the flat metal inside the air cleaner, changing the flow direction from a 90 degree turn, to a 45..

Is there any cutting or anything like that involved when installing this TBI power charger?

yup.. you cut the ring of flat sheetmetal out of the air cleaner bottom.. tin snips, jigsaw, cutoff wheel, etc will all work fine..

yeah... i'd also go with the injector spacer too, get the injectors up out of the TB bore a little, and allow even more flow. its only like $20.

Of all the tbi mods, it's one of the best... If I had one to pick, that'd probably be the one...

The price kinda sucks, but I'd say it's a mod worth a $50... $30 would be a no-brainer, and of course theres always the homebrewed $5 salad bowl..

Adjustable regulator is a nice mod too... And as Jeremy said, the injector spacer is good, and cheap..

its all on the www.cfm-tech.com page. their prices are actually better than Summit's.

the adjustable fuel pressure regulator will allow you to raise and lower your fuel pressure as per the needs of your engine.
