Can you cruise at 80+mph in your truck?

On a few instances I've gotten the Jimmy well beyond 80, but in terms of comfort and stability... well, it depends on several conditions. If there is no wind, the downforce from cruising at 80+ actually seems to make the truck feel more planted to the road and the steering some how feels tighter. But, add any bit of wind to the equation, and it starts to feel pretty unsafe. I've taken it on 300 - 400 mile road trips averaging between 65 and 75 MPH and it's acceptable. With the new Bilstein 5125 shocks, it drives a helluva lot less harsh than it did with the quad shock setup, and it also doesn't hurt that i had my seats re-foamed and bolstered when the interior was redone.

Yeah, setting the cruise at 80 while playing "the alphabet game" with the kids and eating lunch isn't the same as pushing it to 80 because somebody's bleeding out in the back seat.

My pickup will do it no problem, mechanically speaking...but the noise, lack of cruise control, and lack of AC in the summer make it non-ideal for this 39-year old.

That's stuff I didn't care about when I was younger - I had a really tan left arm back then and some mid-freq hearing loss now .

Your reasons are why this old man loves driving his 'burb! Plus no radio...

My bone stock 86 burb (350, 700r4, 208, 10 bolts, 3:42s) starts vibrating around 65 mph. Of course being stock everything is slam wore out. I can drive it with two fingers until then though...

I never noticed the vibes until I rotated the tires last month. Maybe they just need to wear back in a bit...

I'm 2 hours from the nearest interstate, so it's not like I need to go that fast...unless I get tired of the ricers passing me at 20 mph over my speed only to slow down to 5 mph under my speed....I just ease around them and give them my "you're a dumbass" look.
