Carnage thread

I'm going to have to say that there was less massive damage and carnage this year that i can remember.

Trail issues that were resolved/vehicles that became non operational (That I know of)
Twinkie and the ign. module on Golden Spike
Chegro and it's ign. module on Golden Spike
Wally and his fuel pump on Golden Spike/Crack and Back
Scott/Mrk5 with a steering clamp loosening up
Brent with several waterpump type problems and then I think a broken transfer case on Sunday but made it to the trailer.
Chris Perry with a bad oil pump/pickup issue.
KTMoutfront with some unknown ign. issue. (Only 2 vehicles I know of that got put to bed early this year)
Sounded like the Sledge Hammer had some problems that were worked through

Anyone else? I have a hard time believing that's it but The only vehicles I was around with issues are noted above.

If this really is the case good job everyone, I'm optimistic that as a whole the BB attendees are getting things down better. I also heard of much fewer thrash fests happening this year which IMO is a direct impact on trail issues.

EDIT:

Everyone but Chris Peurkrey and KTM (these guys weren't on the trail when their issues happened) were able to make a trail repair and get moving again on the trail and complete the trail. Again that I know of.

I Wheeled the Frankenliner more than the Jimmy. Still had fun.

One of sledgehammers issues was my fault. Or Nicks fault for giving me the big wheel on the left.

Cherry had clutch problems on Backwards Bill, but nothing that we had to stop for.
Ashman lost his front locker on Almost Behind the Rocks, but again nothing that stopped us.
The red S10 Blazer had some welding repairs Brent was preforming at AreaBFE and I think he lost a fuel pump on the trail Saturday.
One of the 4runners was needing a leaf spring.

I always maintain coming to Blazer Bash isn't about having a super built rig, but it is most about having a well maintained rig. A "lesser built" rig can get through many things if the truck is in good enough condition to handle some hard use.

The red blazer had a broken exhaust mount, nothing major, it was just annoying his wife. It also had a bad fuel pump, but that wasn't technically during blazer bash since it happened on Thursday in Moab on Kane Creek.

The white 4-runner had a few issues, I had to weld up a crack in his rear axle housing where the passenger side rear spring perch was welded. The weld cracked and went all the way through and was leaking fluid. His last day of wheeling was Friday, he busted a leaf spring and an axle shaft on Green Day.

My AM/FM radio antennae fell off, I stopped wife picked it up and threw it in the jimmy. Later in Gunnison when I stopped and chatted with an old buddy he pointed out that it could have just come unscrewed. I looked at it and sure enough. Screwed it back in and it works fine.

The carnage that wasn't. Funny thing was it happened on the dirt road to the trail and nothing hit it or grabbed it. Just vibration I guess. Gonna lock tite it.

You forgot my ac control panel knob. .

I busted my frame, well the pounding of my bump stop which is attached to my shock mount pulled the shock mount out of the frame.

Which translates into a good excuse to get new bump stops and do a engine hoop. :waytogo:

Yeah and why did you blow the motor:doah: I will be carrying some now.

In all my years of building, buying, racing Chevy's I have never until now ever replaced one.

I carry one too. I carry all the sensors and crap. What I wouldn't know though, is how would you know it was the ICM that went out. How did you know? Just died and had no spark?

Determine you have no spark

then check for power going to the dizzy with key on

if you have power next take the cap off a check and see if you have power going to the module and if you have power going to the other side of the module with the key on

Heck, in my experience, if the truck is running just fine and suddenly dies but you still have fuel, replace the ignition module...

Wade I had a bad pick up coil in the distributor cause the same thing. I diagnosed it by pluging in my spare distributor and spinning it by hand, with the key on the injectors should fire.
