with some trimming, you can fit one of those behind the grill:whistle: and they can be quite entertaining, or a useful tool for a bachlor on the prowl:pimp:

The stainless whip will give you the best transmission/reception.... I found the best area as far as reception goes (aside from mounting on the roof) is on the left or right side rear bed pannel just above the ridge. Use a ball mount works great. I would recommend putting a heavy duty spring between the mount and the whip as well.

You might want to check with your club as many of them dont allow the 102" whips on trails rides, danger to spectators is what ive been told. If thats the case a 4' stainless whip will get great reception smack in the middle of your roof.

The huge stainless whip may give you the best transmission and receive, but why do you really need that when you're just trying to talk with the group your riding with in the trail run.

I personally find them annoying, had one in the past, pulled it off shortly after installing.

Went with a shorter stainless whip with a base coil, works perfectly fine, even used it in the rig when I drove OTR.

Now I just use a magnet mount K-40 on the roof, works awesome, gets out great, especially with it mostly in the center of the roof.
