For you younger guys, a pay phone was used as a means of communication in the form of a phone that you could pay for by the minute. Often times they were located at or near the outside of a gas station or 7-11 etc. See picture below.Edit: I've been here 17 years of the 20, time sure has flown by.
Back when I first joined I was hauling parts all over the western half of the country to pay for trips to visit my daughter. Met 100s of other CK5ers in the process. Of course, back then I had to write phone numbers down on paper before the trip and call from payphones...
