ck5 alaska trip-july 1 2011 to july 11 2011

there 16.5-16.1 Firstones on 16" rockcrawler wheels from 4WParts

It'll either be this run or Blazer Bash... K5 certainly needs some work, and while I have the time and money, I just have no place to work on it where I live...

I may just haul it up North with me and build a tent to work on it in. All I want to do is rebuild the axles, suspension and put a new set of driveshafts in this winter if I can

get one of those "carport" tents from Northern Hydralics they work good

Roughly twice the distance to haul up to Anchorage as it is to haul down to Utah, and a lot of it is through the Rockies in BC. Figure on 3 day's driving each way, plus the 10 days in the bush, means I'd need to take about 2 weeks of vacation to go. Only leave me with one week for the year, but that wouldn't be so bad, haha

I'd probably try to hook up with Colby in Prince George and convoy up from there.

I guess I can't really say what is gonna happen just yet. We'll see where my rig is at by March :)

I will most likely be driving my rig into Eureka next year. Will be cool to see people come up just for the trip, talk about the coolest vacation ever :waytogo:

Well at this point it's a maybe, some new developments could make it not happen this year, but it's a trip I WANT to do, wether it's this year or another, I WILL do it.:waytogo:

So Colby and Issam you guys are both planning on coming?

Sweet, I am not bringing my rig but flying up this year (thanks to Gus) Well 2011

Planning on taking hours of video and taking a billion or so pictures.

Fully planning on making a cool DVD of the whole adventure or as Mike would put it just everyday wheeling and scenery :D

I was kind of hoping you would end up on another year Issam. Me putting a rig on your semi and splitting gas would be cheaper than me driving up, which makes taking my rig and whole lot more possible. :D

i do this run every year-nothing stops it not even prego wife or new babys :eek1::eek1::eek1:-our 5 mo was born while i was out there this year :haha::haha:- so if you cant make next years trip there is always the next year.

Cool, I was hoping it's the case, because i really want to go.
And I understand dedication, my wife and I love hiking and back packing and my wife was 6 months prego when we went on our last trip to yosemite, then my daughter was 3 months old when we went on the next trip. Fourwheeling hasn't been much of our family thing except for the BB06 when my daughter was 9 months old and I took our chalet and we ended up finishing our trip with a few days in Yellowstone park. I want to go on this trip because it's not just going on some rocks but the scenery I bet would be gorgeous.
And as for You Eric, I might be buying a flat bed, so it could get closer to reality, but I also might end up just building an all around Crewcab and just go up and tow your K5 on your trailer.
We could still split the cost but a much lower cost.:D

our 6 yo was wheeling at 8 months and we will have the baby with us next year.my kids always go no matter the age.only thing is i tend to not get as aggressive when hitting the holes when they are in the truck.we use a good 5 point harness car seat and strap them into a middle spot in the rear seat.i figure that is the safest spot in the truck.

You know, I'll be in Alaska this summer, up in Fairbanks, but I seriously doubt I'll be able to get a full week off for an offroad trip. Put me as a maybe passenger, I'll know for sure closer to the day. It'll really depend on how many drivers we have then.

I could be the parts runner with my Yukon, going into Palmer for parts, etc.

Well your welcome if you can get the time, all you really would need is your food and some camping gear
