colbystephens' '73 blazer build!

thanks for the compliments guys. i got the front seats mocked up today. i'm on schedule to being done with it tomorrow. probably still have some significant welding to do after tomorrow, but at least it'll all be together. ;)

for paint, i'm just going to rattle can it battle ship grey. ;)

You can use all the scrp pieces for gusset also and just notch both side a littl more work but thaey can also be placed easier and doubl as grab handles.

new pics. i've basically got all the tube work done for the cage. i still gotta add the tabs for mounting the seats and finish the welding tho! :D i'm real pleased with how it turned out. i'm thinking of doing a spare tire mount in the bed - i've got exactly 39" from the back seat rail to the back of the tailgate - so it'll be able to mount flat. i'm going to run either 37's or 38's. :D then all the rest of the cargo can just go on top of the tire. :wink1:

i might not get the back seats and harnesses till i get back from california in early july... i'm going to drive this down there and wheel with the SOCKO guys! :D :D

That looks real nice Colby. When you come down bring the tube bender, program, and welder or just bring a duplicate but for an 83. J/K kind of.

BEAUTIFUL.... priceless

i've been toying with the idea of building a hitch mount for the bender so that i can loan it to people. on the last piece of tubing i was bending up, it had been raining really hard and so the ground around my concrete slab was real soft - pulled it right out of the ground! :yikes: major suck. had to have a fat friend of mine stand on the base so i could finish my last two bends for the cage... :haha: good stuff. more reason to build a hitch mount tho! :D

if you wanted to use it for a couple days while i'm there - you could meet me on the 3rd and use it and have it back to me on the 5th when we go wheelin.... if you're interested, i'll go ahead and build the hitch mount for it. :wink1:

wow, nice cage work. Now I gotta go back and read the rest of the thread

EDIT: ok just went back and read the whole thread. Your truck is looking really good so far. Any plans to add another tube from the rear wheelwell to that node just above it? Man I gotta get a bender soon!

Colby I really do appreciate the offer but that is my B-da weekend and I will be partying like a porn star. I make it a habit not to work on my B-day weekend. I am a 4th of July baby.

Your truck looks awesome.
