colbystephens' '73 blazer build!

i got it at a local auto parts/paint supplier. i used PPG brand paint. It's called chevy lime green. i know they had several - the "lime" is the one i used. :wink1:

Not a thing! Infact, my truck hasn't moved in about a month. Been busy with school and such. I will say that I've been collecting steel for bumper/armor builds. So, I have projects lined up for winter break - but I've been spending SO much time in the studios at school it leaves nothing for the truck right now. :)

I know the feeling my truck has turned into a storage rack. I look forward to seeing what you come up with over your break

Ok, a little update. So it is Christmas break and I have some projects lined up. Of these projects I have to do are:

1. get a fan hooked up for my heater... snow wheeling has been a bit cold this last year. :doah:

2. start building the rear bumper.

Today is my last day of access to the plasma cutter till school starts up again, so I just cut out these templates and am going to go cut them out when I finish lunch.

The first pic is the fan box I'm building. I didn't want to deal with cutting holes in my firewall and such so that I could fit a non-a/c box on there and I didn't want to buy an a/c box because I (1) don't want one that big and (2) don't want to pay for it. I have some thin sheet steel laying around, so I'll use that.

The second two pics are of the template I cut out for my rear bumper mounts. I'm going to build something like the swing down carriers from Blazenoffroad. I have 3/8" plate to build these mounts, and I'm going to laminate 2 more pieces of 3/8" plate for the shackle mount, so it will be 1.125" thick, and the width of the opening for my shackles are 1.25". I should have only 1/8" of play when it's all said and done. :)

Well, they're pretty ugly, but I'll get the grinder on them and clean 'em up. :D That's on my list of to-do's for tomorrow. :D 3/8" plate is the thickest this plasma cutter will reasonably do, and it's SLOW and MESSY at that. :doah: The stuff for the fan box looks great though.

I'm going to weld that sucker up tomorrow, pics to follow. :D My wifey is going to be ALOT happier on winter expeditions now. :haha:

"Honey, I'm building this bumper for you..."
"Honey, you would be much happier with those 44" TSL SX's..."
"Honey, a Dana 60 would really improve your comfort because you won't worry about me breaking something..."

You do great work and it doesn't look like all the other stuff out there so I like it. Did you ever measure your ammocans for me I need to know how big I can make my console with out touching the seats.
