1/2 ton status
The power window doors are on it. 200lb rear bumper for weight distribution - it's coming off when I get some tube, spares, etc. back there. 44" military tires are 175 lb ea. Still have the one ton brakes/drums on the axles...no doubler yet, TH400/205.
Right now my hangup is the driver tire hitting the steering box. I could go full hydro, but....
The Jeep has the box under/inside the frame rail out of the way.

That number seems really high, anything in particular that might make it extra heavy? Mine weighed 5200 lbs before I cut it up (on 1 tons), it weighs 4400 now. Add ~200 lbs to each number for tools etc.
I've seen it and it has never looked good to me. Too much difference in wheelbase, adding 22" to the wheelbase won't even come close to matching the body.
A lot of your weight is coming from the drivetrain, nothing will be super light with a V8, doubler and one tons on big tires.
Why try and keep it street legal if you can trailer it? I can appreciate driving it on the street sometimes (mine is still registered/insured and I drive it on the street from time to time, its pretty close to street legal here) but when you start wheeling it hard you open up some potentially dangerous/sucky situations (i.e. a steering knuckle that cracks and doesn't let go until you're on the highway, same thing with steering studs). Depending on the vehicle to get you home can be bad too.
I'd keep the K5, tube (for the cage) doesn't weigh all that much. If you tie the cage to the frame you will help the frame survive.
