Cooling problem.....

I highly doubt the stop leak is your problem. I've used that stuff in numerous engines without problems. We put some in a gas powered welder that had a leaky radiator and it worked like a charm, that was 10 years ago and the cooling system hasn't been touched since. We have 13 different water cooled engines here on the ranch from a forklift to backhoe. 3 of those engines have had a coolant leak at one time and I fixed it with a bottle of aluma seal.

I vote fan clutch.
Damn dude ,,your getting good at this stuff. Apparently when i told the guys at the counter what was going on, what i had changed etc,, he pointed at the fan clutch. So i got one from napa for 80 bucks. Hope it does the trick. :) As far as all the other questions go, ill post the results when i get in the fan clutch. I think it is the fan clutch too, because it turns really easily,,and the new HD fan clutch has like 80 % more resistance compared to the one thats on there. Now i need to find some time . :) Thanks all, you guys are always great, Jacob:)

"lock" the fan clutch...

You might be able to "lock" the fan clutch in the "engaged" position!--if it has a snail shaped spring on the side closest to the radiator, you can unhook the spring from its little "holder" and rotate it 180 degrees,(clockwise I think)and snap it back into the holder--this keeps the fan clutch engaged constanly, provided all the silicone stuff inside it hasnt leaked out..
I learned this trick from a GM dealer.I had overheating problems whenever I had my plow on,could not go more than 5 miles without peuking anti-freeze out the overflow--I tried flushing it out,new thermostats, hoses, belts, the radiator was good,I was stumped!--but the guy at the dealership said many of the newer trucks with plows did the same thing--then GM released a service bulletin on how to lock in the fan clutch--it cured my problem, now I can go anywhere at 65mph with no overheating!---If you can do this to your old fan clutch,it might buy you some time until you can replace it--I can lock and unlock mine without tools or taking anything off--your truck might be different though,if the fan shroud hides the fan clutch--in that case replacing it might be just as easy...

For the record,, i had to replace , the radiator, the heater core, the thermostat, the rad cap,, AND i also replaced the clutch fan today,, suprizingly, the more things i replaced, the less it heated up. Like a mixture of everything was what got it to cool better. The clutch fan was definatly bad. It still goes over the half way mark, but its resting at 12:30 on the guage at best.

Um, as far as the engine flush goes,,, the store bought one i was told was basically garbage . Even the counter guy (witch im getting to know quite well) said to take it to somewhere where they can and will flush the engine properly , to 100 psi ,on a machine , witch really cleans the water passeges. He says the over the counter remedy engine flush is junk. Im going down to the shop on moday morning first thing, to flush it good. Hopefully its not a head gasket, or the water pump,,witch would be the last options, the only pshysical way for it to overheat. That basically breaks down the cooling system in a nutshell. Usually its ALWAYS the LAST item you replace that fixes the problem, but thats ok, i had some fun. :haha: Thanks everyone, i just sponged off of everyones opinions here and did basically everything you said to, ck5 rocks!!! YEAH YEAH, its a FURD, but they make some decent work vehicles. :)
