Copasetic's 90 K5 Build Up - 1/24/08

i just read ur entire build thread over on pavmentsucks for whatever reason. i think you spend as much time on the computer as you do working on your truck! i just wish i was home to work on mine. only get 4 days in sept to get it all done so i can go wheel the piss out of it for a few weeks before i have to leave. im looking at close to the same setup as you have though just going 52 and 56 with springs. but 44's for sure and around the 15" of lift. do you think you will have any problems having your fenders for lunch?

I know it seems like I'm on here all the time, well, actually I'm probably on more than I should be, lol. I have a computer here at work too so I can stay updated and add things to my thread that I didn't have time for at home. As far as eating my fenders, I haven't had the chance to flex any but I do know I don't scrub anywhere from lock to lock. I haven't got out to check how close anything is when I do turn but I would imagine it's pretty close. I plan on taking some clearance shots hopefully this weekend. I was going to do it today since I drove it to work but forgot my camera.

wow how hard is it to get in the truck? tallest truck i have ever got into was a k20 on 38's with 6 inches of lift.

by the way that truck looks awsome

Thanks! It takes a little finesse to say the least, lol. I can tell I'm not 17-18 years old anymore getting in and out of these things. :D When the ole lady rides I have to bring a 4 foot ladder. No lie. :haha:

Soft Top

Got my soft top in today!! It's an STC and I got it from Broke73 off of here. It was exactly what I was looking for and was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to find one that didn't have snaps. I'll be sure to post up pics of the install! :D

Your furniture appears to be upholstered in fine Corinthian leather.:D

nice top too.

Thanks, I think. :D I don't know what kind of leather it is. The couch was given to me so I would have something to sit on after the ole lady left. :doah: But anyways, I got my soft top on! Let me know what y'all think!

:bow:Wow! That top looks great on there! I like how it ties in with your grey paint! It looks very clean and coordinated!:waytogo:

Looks nice, how about the ride? Noisy at all? Is it what you expected?

Thanks guys! I was worried that the colors were going to be too far off but I think they match pretty darn good. I rode to work with the rear window open so I really couldn't tell about the noise but it doesn't flap and raise hell going down the road. The side bars have the same material that the top is made out of on them to help protect the windows and it keeps the fap noise down. I'll see for sure about noise in the morning on the way home after work.

I like! I like! The whole overall truck, I like!

You are gonna have to bring it over so I can see it. I really want one now after the pics of yours!!

How much backspacing on those Barts?

How does the truck handle going down the road? At higher speeds, too?

i think it looks good. nice to see something different and built well.

Thanks guys! I love it so far. I rode home this morning with it all zipped up and if I'm not mistaken it's just as quiet as the hard top. I was pleasantly surprised!

I ordered 3" BS on my wheels but still had to grind the caliper a little. I didn't measure but I'm guessing they sent me 3.5" BS. The calipers were already ground down some so I didn't have to do much more.

It handles amazingly well. It rides straight and it's very tight and responsive going down the road. You don't have to "drive" it all the time. I've had it on the interstate on several occasions keeping up with traffic doing 70-80. I'm very impressed with how it turned out. Crossover and hydro assist are the whole sha-bang-a-bang! Also with the air-soft pellets in the tires, after they get warmed up ride so smooth. I'm taking it to North Carolina next month so we'll see how everything holds up on the road. Now all I've got to do is save up for gas. :doah:

you have air-soft pellets in your tires for balancing? i know they make little balls that are meant for balancing bigger tires, but do the air-soft pellets work just as well? how do you know how much to use? interesting..
