Crew cab. Use it or lose it.

I really don't see a carb'd big block powered 1 ton dually on 38's pulling down 12..

This is a Caddy 500 powered rig. They do a lot better than the Chevy big block on mileage. Some guys ae pulling 16 or so in a 4X4 truck. I will like to see what he can pull off with the 1-ton crew cab dually truck.

A couple of years ago we took a 1973 Cadillac Coupe Deville down to Dallas for the 2007 Cotton Bowl. We got 11 mpg with a bone stock 472.

I've heard mixed reports on mileage from the big caddilacs. I guess will soon know.

It takes up a hair more space than a tool box.

Fuel is currently $2.48 per over here. It would have been nice to have been this far along when it was under $2.

I hear ya. I couldn't enjoy it when it was that low due to being overseas. Would have madethis trip to Cali a lot cheaper.

So, late last night we pulled the carb, removed the float bowls, needle and seat, metering block and so forth. Cleaned everything out and reassembled. Replaced all the spark plugs and all is well again. Running good.

Got the dually fenders on, couple small details to finish up there.

Got to get a rear bumper on it yet and it'll dang near be ready for a full dress road test.

PICTURES! PICTURES! PICTURES! (I wanna see it with the fenders on) :D

Did you cut the rear fenders? Just curious, I bought a burned up crew-cab. It's 100 % rust free. Was hoping to reuse the box someday with out the dually fenders.

The front of the rear fenders has been trimmed just a bit.

Passenger dually fender look like it needs to be adjusted or am I just obsessive?

just a quick comment about the gas mileage in the Cadillac:

i have a 1970 472 Cadillac in my 76 C10. Its a 2wd shortbed, has a TH400, 26.6" tall rear tire, 2.73 rearend. The engine has been rebuilt to stock specs, and has dual 2.5" exhaust. in my light shortbed i get 10mpg even with a light foot. :-( no fun to pay for fuel, but its a fun truck and has TONS of power.

also sucks paying for rear new tires all the time lol

So, what do you attribute the bad mileage too?

Mikey, fenders are the way we quit last night. Just had to pull it out of the way today.

you know i really just have accepted the poor MPG as the way it is. the Q-Jet has been rebuilt by professionals, entire ignition system new, tuned as per factory specs. 10:1 compressions drinks 91 octane. Factory rating of 375hp 525tq. i just chalk it up to 472 cubic inches requiring lots of fuel.
