Those ones are expensive. They get cheaper once you get into super dutys. If it was me, I think I would have to get a cheap one that originally had a gas motor in it and do a Cummins swap. The 7.3 is a good motor, but I'm quite confident that you could get one that had a gas motor and do the Cummins swap and end up no more money in than buying a 7.3 unit. Then you got Cummins power!
If you like cummins motors than yes, i believe that'd be a route to take, you'd def come out much better... Imho having owned a couple obs 7.3 powerstrokes, a superduty powerstroke, and a 24v 01 cummins in front of a nv4500 i vote for the powerstroke any day of the week.. The v8 tho some may not call it a true diesel because its not an inline motor is a much more flexible motor for daily driving.. That cummins falls flat on its face in the revs... Like i said just my opinion..
