Crews and worthy rigs Around the country

Someone look through the pics and say its not true 998 miles. Even looks to have ‘84 dated tires on it.

Also, never seen shifter bezel like that that covers both trans and tcase. Doesnt look like its in sm465 location and not factory shift handle. Thoughts? Bezel looks very clean.

Didnt realize there were 2 4spd options in the 80’s. Learned my one new thing for today. Cheers @Capt Ron

I assume not as strong as a sm465, but how are they? Assume was only available in 1/2tons? Seems pretty rare?

I believe that they are very rare. I got to drive one when I tuned on the guys carburetor. Really clean SWB. His wife loved the truck, but neither one seemed to know how a carburetor with a manual trans and tall gears should respond. They didn't understand that stomping on the throttle at low rpm with a 305 can easily cause odd engine performance. Like 3/4 throttle at 1200 rpm..
I believe that it had 3:42 as well.
:dunno:

Replaced the three speed as the base transmission in 4x4's. Was only available in pickups, not Blazer/Jimmy or Suburbans. Could be had with 6 cylinders, 305's, and 6.2's. Was not available with the 350 or 454.

Wanted an avalanche but couldn't afford it lol.

I was thinking of the part of being able to roll down the back window. And with a quick connect you could probably pull the tailgate out and have an open back wall, like an avalanche.

I have been working on a design where I can do that with the tailgate that I already have in my suburban, but some challenges exist:
If I open it forward it would look good from the outside like a regular bed and can lay flat with the rest of the bed but sealing the elements would be a challenge.
If I do it in the same direction it is in the back, I can seal it good but it will either lay on top of the bed or needs a lower section in the bed to lay flat with the back.
Still working with the details but I would like to make it happen.
And it would be a lot easier to open and close than the avalanche.
The other option is to make it fixed with a roll down window like the Tundra

The fixed roll down would probably be easier. I've actually thought of that exact route for my old dually lol.
