disk brakes were on all the mrap axles i have seen and here axletech brand . also small inner but planetary hubs for final reduction .When I worked for International in like '07-'08 we had a brand new truck come in for a pdi or something and it had Marmon Harrington rear axles also. They are crazy looking with the small center section. I'm wondering if it was destined to become an mrap possibly cuz I think they run them.

Gear reduction = torque multiplication, ie the gears create more torque in the process of reducing the RPM. If the input torque is 1000 lb-ft, 2:1 gears turns that into 2000 ft-lb while 4:1 gears turn that torque into 4000 lb-ft. So by using the planetary gears and a pinion gear set, you use less reduction in the pinion meaning less torque multiplication at the pinion. I have always wanted to do one of these.
problem now with these in new york at least is if you modify to add extra seating past a specific # then you need to do a full state inspection .I have always wanted to do one of these.
Now not so much.
I see there's many of them out there.
I wanted something different and with high capacity.
I would rather now do an extended van converted to 4x4

This could actually work with tandem axles. I know, far out there, but this is a situation where it could look proportional
