Yuck cat in them . . And 1 i drove a few times the cable clutch was so dam stiff .
Hmm, we put a bunch of miles on a couple of 3116 Cats back then. Added exhaust brakes for running the passes between here and Denver to help increase downhill speeds rather than having to crawl in order to keep the brakes cool.

about all i have delt with or know people had out my way have been piles .

but maybe all the lemons got shipped east :doah:

The couple 3116's we have in some company trucks are ok-ish. We used to have a couple 3126's though... those things were absolute garbage.
I haven't owned either but was looking at buying and did a lot of research, the design of both 3116 and 3126 were poor but not every single engine failed, the one's that were maintained properly and not abused are still on the road.

had @140 3116 in our fleet. They all did fine. Had regular maintenance, and never used anything but Cat fuel filters. Did have a turbo or fail with age but that's just the nature of the beast.

Very true! I hauled one around behind the heavy wrecker so many times, it was stupid! We hauled it to Denver from the western slope (250 miles) twice because the Cat dealer here said that the main shop in Denver needed to deal with it. I don't remember how many times it died for the owner.

I wouldn't mind this for a daily driver. Pretty clean.

Seller's description

2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the 8.1L. It has been a great truck and very reliable. Just looking to get something newer. It has a rough country 6 inch lift. I recently flushed the throttle body, brake system, and transfer case. Has new tie rods, idler arm, and stabilizer bar links. I also just put in a new stereo and it is wired for an amp/sub. Does not come with shell or stock wheels. It will come on the white wheels that are in the last photo.

You know you want to. Again.

*Forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly, but I thought you went out there and bought one many years ago*
Yep. Bought a ‘89 K5 he found for me in 2009.
