I keep thinking about it. For about 10k I'm in. For about 12k I'm on the fence. Past that it gets harder. That's just me though and I'm cheap as hell. Dude could probably collect 17+ on an auction site.

I wouldn't touch it for any price, it's TBI.
Now a 96 up I would pay up to 5-6k for a real clean one.
I got my really nice clean 1998 suburban 2500 7.4 with 126k miles for $1900.
I see them from time to time truck or suburbans anywhere from $2500-6000.
That guy is out of his mind

He's not out of his mind, at least not completely. There seem to be doobers around who will buy anything...
 
I saw a similar truck go for $18k at a farm auction last year. It was a dually extended cab with about 80k miles. It had a 454 and I think it was a manual trans. 4x4 extended cab. I couldn't believe it went for so much. I can only guess it was the low miles.

Well at least the one you are describing is a one ton with a manual transmission. The dual wheel and extended cab adds to it for many, but not all people. It would be worth more IMO, but still not $18K.
The standard cab long bed is neat because of being less common nowadays. Not for that price to me.
But I don't like the GMT400 trucks except for the NV4500, 4L80E and roller cams, when they were equipped.
