ford owns cummins, so why dont they put the cummins in the ford trucks?
at most ford might be a large stock holder In Cummins but Cummins is an Independant Company This Myth has been going around since about 94-95 when the dodge Cummins Started becoming really popular . I've never seen any real evidence that this rumor is true Maybe I'll do alittle Research

Basically, Ford has no part in Cummins what so ever. I am really getting tired of this rumor....

I think I want to get a 90's 1 ton Chevy and stuff a C7 in it. 350HP and 860lb-ft of torque.

What do you think for a tranny? Turbo 400...? :haha:

C7 linky: http://ohe.cat.com/cda/layout?m=85540&x=7

I too had always had the idea of a C7 into a late HD Chevy in place of the Duramaxipad.

Although I wouldn't even look at a primitive, 1950's technology, non lockup pile of junk th400 to put behind a C7.:wink1:

It would be an Allison, but probably not the 1000 series, a slightly stouter version.

Still haven't found anything yet that would support that rumor

bah, I'd much rather see them take the new 6.7, lop 2 cylinders off and make a kick azz turbo'd 4 cyl desiel. Might not be very smooth running... but over 400 ft/lbs from a 4 cly would be pretty cool for non-huge trucks. :thumb:

I'm pretty sure the "4BT" is still in production. I'm sure it has a different name but I have a hard time believing Cummins doesn't make a 4 cylinder motor anymore, I know Cat does.

EDIT, yep. http://www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/products/construction/bseries.cfm#b59

Hence the :haha: in my post at the mention of a th400. Besides the fact that it wouldn't survive behind 860lb-ft, three gears just isn't enough for a diesel. The limited RPM range or a diesel demands a 5 or 6 speed tranny.

It looks like the Allison 3000HS would fit the bill.

yeah but it's not Emissions certified for on road use is it??? and It's not a Common rail like the newer 5.9's

zemmissions certified would only be a problem in smog areas, and wouldn't matter in a wheeler.

I don't want common rail, I prefer an electronic injection pump.

Why because it's what YOU have right now so therefore Nothing could be better???? J/k :eek1: :eek1: But really what's your reasoning Me and a buddie were argueing over this the other night ( common rail Vs Injector pump) he was drunk and had no compelling arguement He juts keep saying "cuz it's electronic"

I definantly want an electronic motor, but one with an IP. full mechanical is old school, and I'm sure the cummins motors that I found in my link are still electronic.

I am stubborn when it comes to diesels, and I want a diesel to sound like a diesel. Generally, the Cummins common rail motors are quieter due to custom programming, no thanks.

I have a 16HP tiny 3 cylinder diesel tractor that is louder than a 3rd gen Ram, thats pathetic, with the Ram.

Okay so it's about the Noise . You like the sound of 2 Skeletons Screwing on a Tin roof . That's cool I can see that get ya 93' there the loudest of the crew and mave the best Injection pump (Bosch VE)

Please pardon the slight hijack .

What was different about the 1993 model VE pumps that made them more audible than the 1989 to 1992 models?
The reason I ask is I just got a 1993 donor truck so that I can start my "B" series Cummins swap in my Blazer.

Tom

Actually I not sure about other years for the VE pump . The pump doesn't make it louder . the " first gens" are just louder (for many reasons one being the lack of sound isulation on those trucks . The reason I said a 1993 is because I beleive it's the Pinnacle year of that body style. dana 60's, leaf springs, NV4500,NP205, The Best Mech pump of all 12 valves and it's intercooled (92 was also inercooled but it used the Gay-trag tranny) That should be an awesome swap I've always wanted to do that
