Im kind of laughin inside me about this D60-hysteria, it is possible to be a little original. Maybe pick something not everybody else have.. :haha:

Great point! Here I am, unoriginal with my D60. Might as well sell it and keep the drum braked D44, because heck! no one runs those.

You know, all those guys with their mogs and volvo portals are original and special, too! Every single one of them.

The lock nuts in the hub look like giant hex, not the slotted ones I was expecting. I'm guessing its because its dodge....do local shops usually carry this socket or will I have to order from HarborFrieght/other????

Atho,I'm with you.My D60 is actually in the air right now, flying it's way to my shop from halfway across the country.I think I'll leave it at the terminal when it gets here ,save the gas I would have spent driving over there and just swap my old 10 bolt out for an even older D44.Goooood idea...

*Sniff*, *Sniff* - I smell sarcasm ? :p: Offcorse its a nice upgrade, but think about where all the 60s are coming from - I sympathize all those poor trucks getting ripped of a leg.. :D And, Im not talking about UMGs and Volvos specific - think wiiider !

Let the fun begin, I started pulling the outers this morning. Prolly gonna need new wheel bearings and races etc... gotta get the rotors out to be turned also. A Couple of pics of the 60 along with my junk are here, If you listen closely you can hear my 10 bolt screaming from the 40's :D ....

Just looked up the BOM and its a dodge out of a D600/700 1985-1988

Check the king pins for wear. Alot of them are pitted and should be replaced. A good place to get D60 parts for good prices is from Doug: "Highonda" on PBB...

Well, it's not a fashion statement.. and when you see a whole bunch of folks who have a bunch of D60 fronts they want to get rid of so they can be original.. let me know, and I'll take em off their hands for real cheap.

:screwy:

How about a locked 10 bolt on 44" boggers with 10 psi running on rocks. I would be original but I would be broken and stuck...... I'll be unoriginal.
I want a D60......I run a 10 bolt and will keep running it until it breaks or a grand falls into my lap.
BTW it is not locked and I only run 35s
lol

Hey, Im not saying to keep the stock axles, hell, goddamnit no ! Just think a little outside the box, and dont wait three years to bolt under an axle everybody else have. :)

I know what you're saying, but the simple matter is, there are not a whole heck of a lot of choices out there, for one. And two, the GM D60 is a direct bolt in, that alone makes it a great choice.

Do you have any tech to contribute or just like to see yourself type?

Almost ready to put under the truck. Got new calipers, waiting on lockouts and ORU steering arm.
