Dana 44 - How to beef up ???

I disagree with the 35" tire rule for a 44/10b. I think the tire width is very important maybe even more important than height. I run the 35x16x16.5 bogger on weld 16.5x 14 typhoons and they are freakin' wide, the tread width is only 1.5" less than the 44" bogger! I sweat it everytime I wheel because of that reason with my front 8 lug 10bolt.

Since hes been around that long, he has seen this same thread, Prolly with the same subject words, 50 times or more.

Now I don't have a clue on your CK5 surfing technique, but here's a little program that you might want to follow. I doubt there's more than just a few people that actually reads every thread. What I do is I look at the titles everyday and then read the ones that catch my eye or pertain to me. I read maybe 5 threads out of tech each day. Not a whole lot, but in the future I may have a question concerning something, then I say "hey self, they were talking about that just yesterday in the Garage. Let's check out what they said."

It's all about having a pornographic memory...... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Edit: What I am saying is that if you haven't been there in 6 months, things have "changed" a little bit first off. Second, the place is a virtual goldmine of information. You shouldn't diss it if you don't surf it. You can find a lot of tech over there. I know of no other place that has as much about tube benders and general fabrication information on the web. Yes, there is attitude over there, but it's a very simple act of grabbing the lumber and building the bridge.
 
PBB - the tech is less the 5%
the tech on this site is much higher % then PBB
the clowns have overrun PBB to the point that the REAL guys seem to rarely post anymore

hey paul i want to tell you a small story about 1/2 ton stuff, about two years ago i was working on a construction
site, the builder was lifting trusses up with a pettibone
fork lift, it has 2-ton axles 4 wheel steering and tires over fifty inches tall,well it was real muddy and he got buried stuck solid, i watched as other workers tried pulling him out 3/4 tons 1 tons nothing could budge it,
why because they all had open differentials, later that
day when i finished rocking my job,i went over and asked if he needed help,he said they tried pulling him out and had no luck,i said i know i was watching, but my truck has
actual 4 wheel drive positraction, he said sure lets try it, so i backed my 1/2 ton positraction equiped truck up,
hooked up to him and guess what happend, i pulled him out
with no problem at all, saved him 75.00 for a tow truck,
and saved him labor so his crew could get back to work,
i guess 4 small workers can beat 2 big workers with 2 big
dead weight workers,
 
I'm with ya on the priorities, I don't have the whole family house thing but I do have to get my tail through college.
On to the D44. I have one, left it open, beat on it with 37's and no problems yet. I locked the 14FF however. A limited slip would help, and probably not blow any thing up to quick, put in the new 760 (i think) u-joint, warn hubs with fuses, carry an allen wrench and spares, and go have fun. That is what it really comes down to.
First priority is fun.
That is my budget minded .02
