Howdy, Trying to round up parts for my 77 3/4T Suburban Cummins diesel conversion. I want to use a 3:73 Dana 60 front end, got a line on one out of a 1 ton Dodge. Will that work?
Thanks.

Dana 60

Dunno to be honest. The guy is parting out a Mid 80's One ton Dodge. I was more worried about the pumpkin being on the same size as the GM Dana. I'm planning on using the 14 bolt rear the truck came with and changing the gear ratio if necessary. I also want to use an NV 4500 an either an NP205 or NP 208 T-Case. Is there a year specific Dana 60 front I should be using?

Check out the billavista Dana 60 bible, they have a chart with all the necessary information. I'm almost positive that front end will work, my blazer has a dodge 60 from an 89.

Sounds like good advise, I'll check it out. In my part of the world it seems there are a lot more Dodge '60s available than GM. I'd like to think that's because the GM trucks last longer...

Well that and those with dodges don't like to get their hands dirty with an axle swap.... haha I kid. The dodge d60 is very similar to the chevy with minor differences, including spring perch width, axle width, shock mounting position, and most notably that they usually have external locking hubs.

What size tire are you planning on running? Given the initial cost of a D60 plus the cost of regearing, it may make sense to hold out for one that is already geared toward your application if you are planning on a lift and larger tires. Units with 4.10's are common, 4.56s are available in some applications. What ratio is in the truck now?

Bringing this back from the dead...

OP did you ever get around to trying out that Dodge Dana 60? I'm thinking about giving the Dodge version a try since the GM D60's go for $12-1400 if you can ever find one and a yard by me has a couple Dodge 60's for $550 ('89 w/external lockouts) and $850 ('91 & '92 w/internal lockouts). Looks like all you'd need is a set of swap bushings from ORD and maybe a conversion u-joint for the drive shaft but I haven't been able to find anyone that's used a Dodge D60 to see what all they did...

there a super close bolt in .

spring pad spacing off by 1/4" or so . and shock tabs wrong .

dodge steering arm good choice for retaper job to use as lifted correction arm .

GO WITH THE newer internal locking hub style !!!!! better to find parts and beef up later .

I fixed a guys truck with one in it . he do in fine .

Thanks sweetk30. I had read through the billavista D60 bible a few times already and all the specs look pretty close especially for the '91-'93 versions with the internal hubs. l know they're 2" narrower than the GM versions but that should put them at the same 67" as my stock 10 bolt right? What I was trying to figure out was what it would take to put one under one of our rigs... You mentioning the steering arm was the first time I had ever heard about that and is exactly the kinda info I'm looking for. All I usually see people talk about is having to widen the springs when first bolting it up lol. Also been trying to search around on here to see who has one and what they did but the search just pulls up the threads that I'm trying to read through but it's pretty time consuming when a lot of them at 100+ pages lol.
