Hey all, yes this is my first post here and i did search so here goes my issue...

rebuilding the front 60 now (first 60 front) and the bushings and springs were worn and one bushing was cracked and out of round. So I have new parts now and am good with this, now comes the posible issue I see.

The drivers side knuckle, where the bushing pushes into to seat on the kingpin...is worn. It reminds me of ring groove in a cylinder wall when the cylinder wall is worn down, But not on the entire circumference, only on the outboard side as if from inward loading force from large tires.
Has anybody ever experienced this? I'm guessing I should replace the knuckle because of this? If this doesn't make sense I can upload a picture, but it's hard to capture in a photo.

$600 for a pair of knuckles isn't what I want to do but I will if that 's what needs to happen obviously.

If you can help, thanks.

If the bore is egg-shaped, you may indeed have to replace the knuckle. However, this doesn't make sens if the old bushing wasn't worn through to metal-to-metal. You said the bushing was just out of round.

....Unless, it had worn through previously and someone tried to replace just the bushing. If a new bushing was installed in an out-of-round bore, it would almost immediately distort to the shape of the bore.

If you end up replacing the knuckles, I would go all the way - k-pins, bushings, and springs.

yeah I have no idea wht the PO did...but It's possible that it was an existing issue...the bushings were were but not bad which would indicate bushings were swapped...there were washers in there too and the springs are short...so there was issues at one point and they didn't want to put in the time...

I have a master kingpin rebuild so all the other parts are already going to be replaced... Looks like maybe I'llbe sucking it up and getting the dedenbear knuckles...Can't seem to find a replacement around here!

Snap a pic and post it here so we can see what you're talking about. Also if you do buy new knuckles what are you going to do with the old ones?

OK so you will see the dark half moon toward the bottom. That is the worn spot. Like I said...hard to get in a picture. Sorry.
