i was looking for a deal on a used case spreader. well lots of here but gone or none to be had on lots of chat forums.

so i went to ebay. found lots of new name brand. but found ebay seller ( aabad ) he custom makes these and has super feedback. same kind of good working tool as name brand. but 100x the beef of name brand.

this thing showed uptoday in a nice wraped/sealed/packed box. the ship tag showed 34 lbs :eek1: dam this thing was a tank in the box. the rest of them on name brand are under 20 lbs :(

if you plan on doing a few sets of gears on dana axles a year and or just love kick a$$ tools to add to your tool box then this is the one for you.

oh ya did i mention his price shipped was just over $220.00 . the rest of the name brand was $425-$450 range just for tool .

o.k. here is the pic of the unit. and i need to work out more after picking this thing up. :1zhelp:

left and right side of diff has a big pin hole. you screw in 1 pin per side. ( shinny screws in pic ) then get snug by hand.

when ready you turn the main nut and measure from 1 main bearing cap to other and streach no more than .015" max. most say .007-.010" average spread.

this lets you pull the carrier out easy. then when setting up new gears and bearings you can set propor preload on new bearings when all set.

just a new big fun toy to play with . :D

Cool, I'm sold, I want one :D

Scored one at a swap meet years back for $35.00. Good heavy duty one still going strong today. Not that it gets used that terrible much.

While a case spreader does make the job easier the job can still be done without one. For me I would never spend that kind of coin on a case spreader even if I did several a year.

Nice looking unit there. I got a Kent Moore unit a few years ago for about a hundred bucks.

Case spreaders definitely make the job easier, especially when doing it on stands like the pic above, but keep in mind that they can not be used on a front axle when the axle is in the truck.

I was going to use/ borrow one on my 60 front, but It meant pulling the housing out of the vehicle or pull the leaf spring, because the leaf spring was in the way, I decided to not use it after all... on a rear axle it would be killer, but I have a 14 bolt...
