Dare I say it...Another 72 K5 build! The Bubba build - getting back into it

Had a late start and two interruptions from neighbors, so I didn't get as far as I wanted to. Planning to gut the case the rest of the way tomorrow and clean it/prime and paint. Hopefully I can get the transmission resealed and painted this week. Then it's back in she goes!

Anybody know how to easily get the pins out of the shift rails that hold the forks on? I stalled out there...

O-My God -Last time my TC looked like that ### Well lets just say it did not end well. Why did I think you had put away the Blazer (After summer) and moved away again? Sorry too many build threads and not enough free time, also seems my blazer is always needing a constant wrenchin on. O-and another $1000

Yeah, this part should be ok, just have to do it... Aside from almost dropping the 205 onto my leg yesterday, it's gone pretty smooth.

I'm just trying to decide if I should hurry up and buy a twin stick kit for it right now while it's out/apart.

And nope, I'm in Alabama for the next few years, so blazer is in full swing! Hopefully blazer bash next year.

Jesse just twin sticked his 205 last year...think he said it was easy.

I got the green light from the boss, so I'll order that today. Figured it'll be a lot easier with it already torn down and out of the truck.

Just realized I hadn't updated this in a while. Things have been busy lately at work and whatnot, then thanksgiving. I finally got my parts from high angle driveline, plus the twin stick kit, etc. Got everything back together and upon filling the transmission with fluid, and realized that I had bent the pto covers... So I ordered two new billet ones from Kert. Drained the new fluid and installed those yesterday. Also got a new wiring harness and programmable fan controller for my electric fans. New valve covers topped off the new parts list. I've been driving it for the last two weeks as my dd. Getting plenty of looks etc, plus catching plenty of flak from the Ford guys at the dealership, lol. The springs need replacing badly, it's squatting about 2" on the right side. That'll get sorted out here soon. A guy I work with says he's got a friend with a bender and lots of experience. Sounds like that's who will make my cage. We'll see. I need it soon. Poor body is taking a beating . Anyways, here's some new pics.

...

Next on the list, my horrible vibration. Yeah, so it appears the last time the transfer case was out (when the BBC ate the clutch in 2 weeks), somebody *cough cough* didn't locktite the driveshaft bolts. Lost two, one was stuck in the driveline brake rotor, and the last one was holding it on. I honestly can't believe it was able to put itself (in rear wheel drive) onto the trailer. That's when I noticed it.

So I already called Jesse at HAD and ordered a new driveline brake, new output flange. Then I called Chris at ORD and got a new billet bearing retainer, 205 rebuild kit and adapter seal kit. That was an expensive f***up!

Pinch Lock Nuts, a.k.a. "Crimp" nuts. (NOT "nylock" nuts).
You can get these at Ace Hardware. I've started using these on nearly everything, and nothing has come loose when I torque them down to spec. Offroad Design provides these on just about everything they sell. They work! They're simple. And you don't have to pour locktite on them. (although I do sometimes anyway). :waytogo:

The '71/72 grille hanging over your door...... priceless. :usaflag:
