Dare I say it...Another 72 K5 build! The Bubba build - getting back into it

On my way to the Junk yard. I think that I have enough time before my next inspection. I'll keep ya posted.

Got it Brother!!!

You should be very happy. After looking at it here, this thing is very nice.

I tried to cut it as low as I could. PM me with your addy and I'll get it shipped out.

Looks like you got low enough to save the "index" stamping notches on the inner flange where the windshield seal goes....

That should make it very easy to transfer the new frame onto the old truck.

Seriously cool gesture as well! :waytogo:

:usaflag:

See.... I never even thought about that. :dunno: Once I broke the windshield (tried to save) and kicked the rest out, it was all about as low as I could go.

More Greg "edjumication" for us all...:haha:

Mike, I honestly want to hug you right now...:sign9::haha::haha:

I'll getcha a PM right away. I can't say thanks enough!:bow::bow:

Let's just keep it to PayPal my friend. That will work just fine for me.:D :haha:

Spent some time cleaning it up last night. I wanted to see how deep the rust was. She is going to come out nice for you. I'll finish tonight and maybe we'll have our first Ryoken green Blazer part heading across the Pacific on Friday. :woot:

DUDE! you don't need to do all that! Now I really owe you some brews!

Don't worry about it. Had to meet a lawyer at the end of the day, so I had a lot of sh!t running through my head. It was more like therapy than work.

Thanks guys, but I think anybody on this site would have done the same thing.

Had really good intentions of getting it shot in green last night. Got it all cleaned up, was wiping it down with wax a grease remover, then my partner showed up.

Well that stopped pretty much all progress. Lets say, by the end of the night, I was pouring him into a cab and heading inside to bed, which happened to be the couch for the night. :doah:

All is good again this morning and I'll get it shot tonight. Here are a couple of pics to hold you over, Z.

Chalet2506, I'll bump my thread to answer your question. Don't want to completely hijack this one. :pimp:

No worries on hijacks first of all. Second, WOW! You definitely didnt have to do all that! It looks incredible, I owe you big time!!!

OK, I said I would post a small update so here it is. After getting the bad news about not being able to finish I busted A$$ to do a quick spiff of the frame and paint the top rail. I installed the new DIY4x engine crossmember (2 inches forward) and the trans c-member. Swapped the axles with the help of ChuckMoney. Dropped the old 355 back in, then the 465/205. I might add that it sucked doing the motor and tranny by myself on a slanted, rough driveway... The next day we slung the body back on it and got everything into the garage. Ran to the scrap yard with everything I had cut off the poor bastard in the past year. Ended up with 1080 pounds and only got $83 for it:doah:. The truck sat for a week or two just because I was sick about the whole thing.

Then I finished painting the crossmember I made for behind the trans where I will attach the anti-wrap bar. I have the hydroboost mocked up, just need to cut and thread the pushrod for the clevis. I made a support bar to run off the bottom of it as opposed to a big reinforcement plate like Yukonjack made. Now I just need to cut the hole for the clutch master cylinder and drill the holes in the pedals. I have rims/brake line/adjustable prop valve and some other stuff that should arrive from summit today. Paid $200 just to ship that stuff. Finally received my new American Auto Wire harness the other day and my radiator from Entropy should be here in the next day or two.

Started tearing apart the right front of the 60, found it all gooped up inside and the spindle bearing was gone, just the race was left. So I have those and new u-joints and kingpin springs/bushings coming from ORD. And finally I called High Angle Driveline and had Jesse make me new shafts. I have a u-bolt rear yoke, 1350 rear shaft, rear flange, driveline brake, front flange, 1410 front shaft and 1410 D60 yoke coming from him. Also found that my front output on the 205 was 10 spline so I had to order a 32 spline to run the flange up front.

In the past month I've dropped $4,500 that was supposed to be spread out over the next 6 months just to get the stuff I need to get it driveable again:doah:. I know I'll find another couple hundred bucks worth of misc. that needs done but I should be almost done spending on it until we move back to the mainland. Now I just have a bunch of work to put it all back together. Hopefully I can get it moving by around Christmas and then drive it/wheel if for the last 6 months we're here. Then when we move hopefully buy a house and tear it back down to finish it right.

On a side note my wife (who is a resident physician if you recall) was post call this past Friday after working for 30 hours and fell asleep on her way home:doah:. I think they're going to total her civic, it popped both front bags, and from a quick glance needs an entire front clip/core support/rad/condenser and may have been leaking oil. Luckily she's fine with just a couple bumps and bruises but now we have to find her a car. She's on the fence for anything from new Camaro/vette to another civic or even some old stuff we've found on c-list. If it's cool you can count on pics:thumb:

Here's the pic whoring...

Oh yeah, the gap between the new crossmember and frame is where one of Kurt's staked flanges will fit, and on the outside I will weld the outrigger for my slider onto. I just need to figure out how I want to mount the front one and design the underside of the cage which I'm going to do here so I don't ruin the new rocker boxes I bought. That way I can sell them and try to recoup some coin and not have to cut them back off after we move.

Good progress. It's nice dropping a bunch of coin on a dream, Huh? :D

Glad to hear that your wife is ok. :thumb:
