Dare I say it...Another 72 K5 build! The Bubba build - getting back into it

Looks pretty good. Orange peel yes, but as you say it can be buffed out with some work...what kind of paint did you use? Man I love Red!!!!

Thanks Zim! It's actually rustoleum gloss sunrise red. I thinned it @10% and sprayed with an HVLP setup. I'm pleased with it. Especially since everything (primer, paint, thinner, "spray booth" etc cost me about $150!

thats awesome....Red is cwazy expensive! That looks great for 150$

Man, that's one hell of an update.

I thought that you were building this truck for you, not your wife though??
She must really like pink, Huh..

Just kidding dude..:D

The lines, paint and liner look really nice. I do think that your gunna get some sore shoulders when it comes time for wet sanding though..

What liner did you use again. The combo between the red and black looks sweet.:waytogo:

Great job, Sean.

How long before she gets down the road now?

awesome man! you've done some fantastic work over the last several months. really gives some motivation for the rest of us!

I can't say thanks enough guys! I'm just extatic that it turned out so well for so cheap (even though I tried to screw it up...). I tried for way too much coverage the first coat (got too excited) and got a ton of runs. Let it sit for two days, wet sanded the heck out of it and then did 4 quick thin coats about 15 or 20 minutes apart.

Mike, the plans are for Al's liner but I need to re-strip the floor and fix some PO screw ups still. I just didn't think I had time or $$$ while we're still in Hawaii. So i cleaned it up 75% of the way and sprayed the floor with semi gloss black rustoleum:thumb:

I'm shooting for 3-4 weeks till she drives. I obviously have to hook all the brakes and p/s up, run the wiring harness, put the seats in... Plus I still need to paint the cowl and the column, and the new rims then mount the swampers. I think 3-4 weeks should do it though. That is, if somebody would send my driveshafts! :haha:

Oh yeah, I have two stupid duty towers coming for the front, rears will be custom and 4-14" travel bilstein 5150's on the way :woot: There's plenty to do still but mostly small stuff that won't take too long to knock out.

It's all good. They've only been under the back seat of my truck for three weeks now.:doah:

I'll getem out next week, I promise... :sign29:

:haha:

HA HA HA.....I dont feel near as bad as the bumper lights that are boxed up and waiting to be shiped out to him.

the smiley faces tongues on my differential covers are that color! looks good to me.

Looks real good. I love red! As Simmer said, wet sand and nuff and the paint will look help a lot. Looks good now though. Good work! Must be nice to just go to Maui for the weekend. I will be there in April for a week.

Thanks guys! As for going to Maui for the weekend, it's a little different when it's a 1/2 hour flight instead of 6 or more...:D

On a side note, for those of you who haven't been to Hawaii: there is some great stuff to see and do on Oahu, most notably being Pearl Harbor. BUT...every one of the other islands is way cooler in my opinion. Way fewer people, better views, cooler waterfalls etc. I'm not saying it's not worth it to come to just Oahu, but if you're anything like me and hate the overcrowded BS that is Waikiki, try to get to any of the other islands. :thumb:

A ranking of them for me would be:
Kauai
The big island
Maui
Lanai
Oahu

I haven't been to Molokai yet but I imagine it will rank just before Maui for me. I'll post up some pics when we get home.

Here's an example of one of the pics I took this past weekend. Feel free to browse through all of them on photobucket. As usual, feedback is welcomed:thumb:

That's a very cool pic, Sean. :waytogo:

That was last weekend when you left your crappy island for one of the better islands? :haha:

I tried holding my hands up to that pic, but still can't get warm.
I'm sitting here freezing my ass off, while you play. hope you're happy.

:P

awesome pic btw!

Thanks guys:thumb: You peak through any of the other ones? I should really start uploading all of my pics up there, if for no other reason than backup. But that way you guys could live vicariously though my pics:whistle:

:haha:
